My recent experience at Santa Monica IPhone Screen Repair MacBook Repair was nothing short of a nightmare, and I urge everyone to steer clear of this establishment. Let me walk you through my experience with them.

I brought my S20 Android phone to the shop because it would not turn on. The owner had a technician open my phone right then and there. The owner then claimed the phone had water damage and berated me for using it in the shower, despite the fact that the phone is marketed as waterproof. The owner declared that repairing the phone would be challenging.

I was instructed to wait for updates, as they would inform me about the repair progress. Fast forward a month later, after receiving no news whatsoever, I decided to take the initiative and call the store for an update. To my frustration, all I received was a vague response of "no news yet" and an empty promise that they would let me know.

Three months passed, and I was left in the dark with no communication from the store. Frustrated, I visited the store in person. And what did I get? I was told that my phone couldn't be repaired. But wait, there's more! The owner suggested I take my device to a specialized data recovery store, insinuating this would be the only way I could recover my data, albeit at a very hefty price. It is evident the owner has a commission-based referral system in place with them.

I then decided to try to fix the phone myself, and I purchased a replacement battery for $20 from eBay. Lo and behold, once I replaced the battery, my phone sprung back to life, functioning flawlessly. This incident proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that the owner either lacks the necessary expertise to diagnose phone issues or deliberately lied to me about the phone being irreparable.

Talked on phone. Then brought my phone in. It’s a unique situation when my phone was locked to ‘Unavailable’. With the new screen there’s now a chance I can put my pass code in once the count down time finishes and I can hopefully get three years of pictures back. Very helpful and honest.

Update: Got all my data / pictures back. Unbelievable. The culmination of a 4 month saga. Had sprayed Goo Off on phone to get tree sap off. Ruined touch sensitivity. NEVER SPRAY GOO OFF ON TOUCH SCREENS. Tried entering pass code so many times it went to ‘Unavailable’ with no count down timer. Apple tech, multiple calls, told me data was gone with the unhelpful add on “You should have backed it up”. Thanks pal. Pushed button sequence to connect phone to computer with iTunes. Thru iTunes put phone into Recovery. Gave me option to enter password ode again. Tried. Locked for 8 hrs. Too scared to touch it. Brought it here. He installed new screen in 40 minutes. Waited 8 hours. Put passcode in, since screen now functional. iPhone took 1 hr to recover. Everything came back. Phone now backed up to...
