My husband and I bought our identical commitment rings in Manhattan in 2005, designed by Bill. He often quipped he could not draw a straight line. However, he happily would redesign both rings every five years. Scott, of Scottsdale Fine Jewelry, would review Bill's designs and add a diamond to each ring as a symbol of our continuous journey in life together. Scott produced the 2010 version, and the 2015 as well. We were so pleased with their involvement and care given so beautifully each five years to these two crazy gay old guys living their best lives in Scottsdale. Our rings were special, and wonderful, and meant so much to us. In 2014, Bill was 72, and went to dozens of doctors only to find out eventually that he had Parkinson’s Disease. We both hunkered down for the long run, and allied ourselves with Mohammad Ali Parkinson Center in Phoenix in hopes of being just one step ahead of this nightmare in the making. Doctors, medications, treatments, procedures, therapies, were filling a lot of our days. We got through COVID will no problems. In August 2023, we restarted our annual California vacation to get out of the extreme heat in AZ. In Oceanside, we also celebrated Bill's 81st birthday at the condo, and at Tommy Bahama's restaurant in Newport Beach. Bill was on top of the world, and the condo was truly oceanfront. He would dutifully stay on duty in the livingroom. He would prepare and bring announce to anyone that whales, porpoises, seagulls, etc. were spotted. After getting home, and enjoying Thanksgiving dinner at Flemings in Scottsdale, we talked about the upcoming restyle of our rings in May 2024. Before we knew Bill's medical conditions, I asked him for permission to combine the two rings. He agreed. Soon after, he finally agreed be admitted to the local hospital, stayed a week, got worse, and told his medical team he wanted to start hospice at home that Friday before Christmas. Bill was very sick, exhausted, and decided hospice was just keeping him alive. He died four days later. It was over. As soon as I could, I checked in with Scott about the combination of the two rings. We has so thrilled to do it. The final redesign Scott presented to me was absolutely perfectly unique. After the approval by me, work started right away. Soon, Scott called me, and I went over with my payment. As painful as it was seeing the ring without Bill, everything was perfect. Read moreIt was a very unpleasant experience to say the least. I have been collecting fine watches for almost 30 years. I might not be an expert, but definitely not stupid. I was attended by a heavy set lady to whom I have forgotten her name. I let her borrow the piece for the inspection and waited patiently. In anything in life, it is dangerous and counterproductive to deal with people who do not know what they are doing. She got all her information from a 3rd party. She came back with a ridiculous offer that was less than 60% of the value of the 18K gold weight, not to mention close th 20CT. in diamonds, and 5CT of rubies. ( not to mention that it is a Rolex). I do not recommend that store to anyone. It's 5: 32 P.M. I don't know if I should cry or laugh. I posted a negative review a couple of hours ago. I usually don't do that, but somehow, I had a bad feeling about the interaction of the visit at this place. I even posted, " In anything in life, it is dangerous and counterproductive to deal with people who do not know what they are doing." After I reviewed the offer, I took my watch and left. I had a bite to eat and called the jewelry store that offered me almost double the money for the watch. I got to the store and went into the office of the buyer, with whom I had the agreement with. He tells me: Wasn't this watch working this morning?I said yes, it was. He flipped it around and he saw the gasket ripped and sticking outside the back of the watch, and it did not work at all. He said: someone f........d with it, right? I felt angry and ashamed. He opened it up and pointed out the problems. I ended up with a lot less money because of that. I can't prove that this establishment broke my watch, but the facts were that it arrived working and left inoperable. I went back to the store and argued the point to which they claimed innocence and only complained about the previous review that I had posted. I feel frustrated and cheated as a result...
