Had only about 30 mins to eat as I was the driver for my friend who is doing outpatient surgery. Before I even got to the door, the gentleman inside opened it for me and proceeded to sit me down at a nice table meant for 4. I was by myself so I thought for sure I would be squeezed into one of those single tables. Probably lucky that the one empty single table was still full of dirty dishes. Either way, it was nice to be seated at a large and roomy table. I scanned the menu which was plentiful but for breakfast, my go-to lately is Egg Benedict. I got the Florentine version. I also ordered a hot cup of tea. Chanel, the waitress, asked if I wanted lemon and honey, something that most wait staffs forget about. I appreciate that very much. The tea came with a carafe of hot water. Heaven for tea lovers like myself. I usually drown 3-4 cups of tea in one sitting. I often would have to chase people down for refill of hot water. No need here. The egg Benedict came and it was accompanied by a side of salad. You could have opted for potatoes or fruit but I remember reading that the salad has a nice light vinaigrette dressing which is my favorite. I will have to look up how to make that. I love that type of dressing. I wolfed down the salad. Chanel came over and asked me how it was. I commented that the salad was especially good and I could have used more of it. Chanel said she would get me more. I agreed right away though the back of my mind, I am thinking I might get charged for it. My husband always chided me for this as it is a common trick with waiters to up sell the side orders. The salad that came was on a large plate and the portion was ample. I was pleasantly surprised and told myself no matter how much the up charge was, it was worth it. The egg Benedict was delicious. The toast underneath was crunchy while the egg was made over easy so the yolk run out when you cut into it. Perfect combination. I enjoyed it thoroughly. When I got the bill, I was surprised to see no additional charge for the salad. I asked for a to-go cup for my remaining tea and that was provided promptly. It was a great experience overall. I definitely will come again and bring the whole family. I am certainly everyone would enjoy it. You should definitely give this place a try if you are in the neighborhood or on a look out for a great breakfast place. My total cost was $16 with the egg Benedict being around $12.50 and the...
Read moreEven though we arrived at what was likely the busiest time--12:30 on a Sunday--the entire staff exuded such positive energy and warm, friendly personalities that our brunch felt nothing short of relaxing and thoroughly enjoyable.
While we waited to be seated, the manager was there near the door and was happy to chat with me to answer my questions about the featured pineapple, coconut water, and agave juice special and whether they have mimosas (which they do, made with white wine). Then, as we were off to be seated, he added with enthusiasm, "The Sangria is REALLY good and popular. It comes in a pitcher!" When I looked at the menu, I saw that it serves 2 to 3 people, making it a perfect option for sharing.
Before our server even arrived, the hostess came over to get us started with beverages. And then came our server--the true star of the experience. Her contagious, high-energy personality made the entire meal feel even more fun and lively, adding to what was already an outstanding brunch.
The food was delicious. I highly recommend the Belgian Waffle with Berry Compote & cinnamon powdered sugar. You can make it even more delicious with butter and maple syrup. But the real standout? The Million Dollar Bacon--a must-try! The shareable platter of caramelized bacon slices was drizzled with maple syrup, seasoned with a slightly spicy, peppery kick, and sprinkled with chives. (See my photo!) For the health-conscious, this is definitely the place to dine. There are so many healthy options including beverages like fresh-pressed, nutrient-packed juices featuring ingredients like kale, turmeric, cucumber, and beets--perfect for a refreshing and health-boosting option. There are plenty of lunch options, as well; I had the half-sandwich & half-salad.
We chose to sit outside, and the weather was gorgeous. The umbrellas provided just the right amount of shade and made the seating seem cozy, and the tables were spotless. We'll be...
Read moreI had a medical procedure which required a special diet. Well the procedure was postponed so I was in the mood for a nice breakfast so I decided to try First Watch. I have passed by several of their locations but never had the opportunity to dine there as of yet but I'm glad I chose them today. It wasn't terribly packed so I was able to be seated right away. As other patrons filtered in I heard several of the waitresses greet some regulars by their first name. I definitely like that kind of atmosphere. After reviewing the menu,I had the baccado (beacon-avacodo) omelette with sourdough toast and mixed greens. The food was exemplary, the omelette had the exact proportions of ingredients and did not lack in the flavor profile that I expected from the description in the menu. Shayna was my waitress, a quick glance in her direction and she was headed in my direction to handle my every request. I started with coffee and was pleased to see that she showed up to the table to introduce herself to me with a carafe of coffee in hand. And to their credit, it was served in a coffee "mug" not a tea cup. My Overall experience exceeded my expectations. Whether dining Solo or with a group of your closest family or friends, I highly recommend First watch for you next Breakfast,...
