We had stayed at the Sonesta Suites at Gainey Ranch in the past, but that premium experience comes with a premium price, so we tried the Sonesta Simply Suites on this trip. Traveling with my sister instead of my wife made the two bedroom two queen bed room offering an easy decision to make for under $100/night. This basically small a two bedroom, one bath apartment with livingroom, kitchen, and small dining area. There was a TV in the livingroom, as well as one in each of the bedrooms. Everything worked well, but the rooms show quite a bit of wear with some apparent minor maintenence issues. The three-floor buildings have elevators, a pay laundry room, and there is a nice but small pool. The beds were excellent for my taste and I slept very well. It reminded me of a European feather bed. This would be an excellent long-term stay choice for the price, but if money is not an object, go over to Sonesta Suites at Gainey Ranch!

We have recently stayed here. A few good things, and some not so good things. Check in was easy. Went to our room. Walked in and looked appealing. Then more things were spotted. Crumbs were pretty much all over the carpet. Rooms keeper came in and tried his best to make it right. Unfortunately the vaccum just pushed everything around and didn't pick up anything. Definitely need some newer updated vacuums. Some that actually pick up from the carpet. Bathroom walls need to be updated and caulking along the lower part of the shower. Oven light inside and outside lights don't work. The bed is definitely the better of things. Very comfortable and great pillows. Plus points. Close to stores and restaurants.

Where to start....RUN FAST–RUN FAR

positive – beds/pillows were comfortable. Bathroom towels were awesome. 3small sized TV’s – 1 in each bedroom, 1 in the living room. Quiet (probably because we were the only guests – never saw another guest in 7-days) – think people were smarter then us and read the reviews.

OH – per managers previous responses to poor feedback they were renovating this hotel in 2020 – NOT!!!! February 2021 and things still looks like the pictures posted

Negative: Our flight was canceled (due to the bad weather going on) and we had to rebook our flight which meant instead of checking in on 2/15 around 4pm as planned – we did not check in until 1:30am on 2/16. I called the hotel on 2/15 around 1pm to let them know we were not going to get in until 2/16 and was told that they could adjust our room at check in. Well guess what – that never happened. When requested, the older man that checked me in was rude (should have been the first flag to look for a new hotel the next day). - maybe we woke him up! We travel a lot and have found when something is beyond a customers control, they tend to work with you...they want to keep their client base. NOT THIS HOTEL! Discussed with another individual two days later and they refused to adjust anything. Said I should have canceled the reservation and rebooked – why did their employee not tell me this!!!!! Mind you - this place was far from full. We never say one other customer in the 7 days we were there. Poor customer service...had we not been there for an event and had the time to look for another hotel with a full kitchen for our extended stay we would have been out of there in a heart beat!

Due to COVID, we requested no housekeeping services for our room. When we check in we thoroughly disinfect our room and do not want anyone else in the room during our stay. We were told that they would enter our room for “wellness checks” and if we did not like that policy we should leave. Yes, exactly what we were told! Great way to start with customer relations!

No breakfast offered at all...nothing. Most hotels that offered a breakfast have found a work around for COVID and offered some type of breakfast...this place – nothing.

The entire 7 days we were there the had sanitizer dispenser was never filled on the first floor by the elevator...thankfully we had our own with and used the stairs.

Don’t wear white socks in the room as they will soon be black on the bottom – gross. We kept our shoes on.

Elevator is the smallest elevator I have every seem or been one...Maybe good for 2 people. If you are pulling the luggage cart on it is a tight squeeze.

Full kitchen: Has a coffee pot in the room, however the handle was on crooked so made it hard to pour the coffee using the spout without twisting your wrist around. Pans were not non-stick and the ONE frying pan was so warped you could not cook anything evenly on it – when and purchase our own pan from Wal-Mart and took it home with us. Stove was so small, when you would use a fry pan it used up most the stove top. We changed the garbage bag in the kitchen once during our stay and there was old food coating the garbage can inside from previous people...a bunch of old rice and other things – GROSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Furniture was so dated. Couch was dirty and had holes...we did not sit on it. Dresser drawers had dirt in them.

Heat register is in the living room – hard to maintain decent temps in the bedrooms - even with the doors open...no heat/air-conditioner vents in the bedrooms.

Water pressure in shower – SUCKED!

Upon leaving our room in better light...the carpeting and stairways were in need of vacuuming...lots of dirt. When we came back later tin the day it looked lie, the vacuumed the stairways.

Might have considered raising the stars for customer service and concern for the customer – but due to total lack of it – can not raise about 1 star

Definitely recommend finding a different hotel....check out the LaQuinta...

I stayed at Sonesta Simply Suites for nearly six weeks while caregiving for a family member. On a positive note, the hotel is located across the street from the Honor Health Scottsdale/Shea and two blocks from the Ironwood cancer center. There are several restaurants, grocery stores and other services in the immediate vicinity. Also on a positive note was the large desk area in the room which made remote work relatively comfortable. The Sales Manager was helpful at maintaining a set rate for my entire stay despite seasonal rate fluctuations. That's about where the good service and amenities end.

Many aspects of the room were subpar, needing maintenance and updating. I had to purchase more kitchen equipment to make simple meals. I can echo the myriad observations from other Google reviewers about the wear and tear on this property. I saw old mattresses in the dumpster suggesting they might be doing some upgrading and believe the mattress I had was on the newer side. I didn't feel entirely safe as a solo female and could've complained multiple times about other guests but chose to keep my head down. And the odor of the air fresheners in the halls and cleaning products used in the room was nauseating to me. by the way, cleaning is only offered once per week of stay.

Of most significance was the treatment that I received from a member of management on check out day. I'd requested an extra hour for late check out at noon which I was told I would be charged $25. I agreed despite that seeming unfair given I'd paid for nearly six weeks of room fees. It seems that Housekeeping was not informed of the late check-out and banged on my door twice asking me to leave starting at 10am. Informing them that I had late check out was ignored. I was in a work session and unable to answer the door the third time when the manager pounded on the door insisting that I vacate the property. I was very upset and used an explicative (as would most people under this stress). When I checked out I asked to speak with this person and he absolutely railed into me for the explicative, refused to listen, shouted over me and told me to get off of the property accusing me of treating his staff poorly. I asked his name since he did not have a name tag and on told me that was none of my business. Guess what - it is. I was very upset and shaken by this particularly having just lost the family member days before. I wouldn't stay in this place again if my life...

I have stayed exclusively in Marriott hotels for years. In my opinion, this place must have been either old apartments or a cheap motel way back in the day and Marriott must have purchased it and stuck their name up on the wall. Although the two room suite appears to have been renovated and was clean to the naked eye, the place is VERY old and tired and this does not seem like a Marriott at all. The pool is tiny and the pool area is small. When we arrived today, there was one large, loud and obnoxious family at the pool. The kids were in the parking lot throwing things over the fence into the pool while the rest of the family talked loudly and ignored the kids. My 12 and 10 years olds both looked at that and told me they did not want to go to the pool. The beds are way too soft, they both feel like hundreds of wildebeest have trampled them...to death. I personally would have thrown these two particular mattresses out a long time ago. Anyway, the walls...wait, there are walls here, right? We have to be up at 5am for a tournament tomorrow but cannot sleep because the family upstairs sound like that same giant herd of wildebeest that must have run over our mattresses. The noise is UNBELIEVABLE. I can live with most of these things for the next three days but the noise is over the top. I am paying over $160 a night here and for what I am getting, I should have just gone to the nearest rundown motel and paid $40 a night. I will never come back here and I do not recommend this hotel. I cannot believe Marriott would put its name on a place like this. I am giving this two stars because the clerk was nice and the shower works. The tub is very small. The toilet is VERY old and we had to flush it four times to get the paper down. The kitchen is small but is clean and functional. The tvs work. The place has wi-fi. I can't think of anything else that would be considered a positive. I am very...
