City Nail Salon — Local services in Seattle

Horrible place with horrible people. The owner is a terrible person yelling at everyone. She was demanding people pay cash so she could go gambling. There were several people waiting and she made one lady sit in front of her at the nail station while she ate before helping her. It was disgusting.

I hardly get my nails done, but it was my birthday so I wanted a Mani/Pedi. I was leaving for a five day vacation in the morning, so I was excited to get my nails done. I made an appointment and when I arrived the place smelled like old food. I was seated in a pedicure chair that didn't work. The lady who did my nails didn't even buff my nails so the gel would stick. The experience was horrendous. The owner made everyone so uncomfortable. In the end I over paid by fifty dollars. And my gels were off my fingers and toes before my five day vacation was over. Worse, my nails are so damaged that my long, natural growth is completely gone. My nails are now brittle and I'm constantly trying to file them and get them to stop breaking. During the appointment they clipped me too close on two different toes and I was bleeding and left somewhat in pain. I get that accidents happen, but twice? Before this appointment I had long, healthy nails that I didn't even use polish on. I'm sad and angry that they ruined my nails in one appointment. It's actually impressive. And honestly, if you decided to use this place long term, considering they didn't even buff my nails and they fell off immediately, you'd spend over $500/month at this place for gels. This place is a disaster and I wish I hadn't gone. I feel like I'm owed $140 for what they did...

I think the ladies there do great work! That being said, I do not plan to go back. I called to make an appointment with a particular person. When I arrived, she was nowhere in sight. Two other ladies began to give me my mani/pedi. Although they were very nice, no one ever explained to me where the lady I made the appointment with was. The owner came by several times to tell me how nice they all were. After she waxed my brows, I proceeded to pay and tip for my services. Although she did the least amount of work, she took a third of my (generous) tip. I ended up pulling out a few more singles so that the others received what I thought they deserved for their work. When I pulled out my punch card, I reminded the owner that I didn't have it with me on my last visit and she said she would remember me and would give me credit for that visit. Now she said she would only give me credit for the current visit. I thought I had found my nail spa, but I didn't feel the owner was up-front with me about what was happening. Unfortunately I had a really bad experience here :( I came in with short natural nails with nothing on them. I wanted a full acrylic set. The nails were too round and there was clearly a space between my nail and the acrylic. You could see from the side they were slanted upwards because they weren’t sitting properly. That is a really scary place for bacteria to be and could cause a painful infection.

I walked out, got in the car, and went back in to ask for them to be removed. My technician argued with me for a few minutes, telling me there was no space, trying to add more glue to close the hole. I said no and asked for them to be taken off. She began using the electric nail file to carve out my natural nail. It started to hurt, so I once again asked for the nails to be removed. She finally started to take them off.

As soon as she cut them, you could see the clear space between my nail and the acrylic.
