Bottom line, I absolutely would not recommend this store. See below for the many reasons. I also want to note I have never left a bad review for a business and I honestly hate writing one especially for a local business but I don’t want anyone to have the experience I just had. They appraised my grandmother’s ring incorrectly.I brought my grandmothers wedding ring in the be appraised. I paid $80 for it and they told me the ring is 14k white gold.I went back in several months later to talk to them about redoing the ring to make it into a wedding band for myself and the same woman that originally appraised it told me it is platinum. So the appraisal was wrong. They couldn’t find my dead grandmothers wedding ring. I dropped my grandmas ring off so that they could create CAD designs to show some options to redo the ring. They told me the cost would be $600-800 to build a new ring with the existing diamonds. They sent me the CAD designs 1 week later and told me it would actually be $1,200, double what they originally said. Despite this, I went back in to try on rings to get an idea of what the designs they sent me would look like. When I got there, they couldn’t find the ring. The owner and multiple employees started looking all around the store. They told me it is probably with their jeweler that they send out to, they called him and he also couldn’t find it. They track items via a notebook and didn’t even have my ring written down and never gave me any sort of receipt indicating that they had my ring. After an hour in the store with employees searching for my ring, I grew increasingly concerned and frustrated. What made things worse, Josh, who I believe is the owner, was incredibly condescending to me and continuously told me in 56 years of business they had never lost an item. He then told me his jeweler was sick and they couldn’t call him (despite the fact that I just heard an employee on the phone with him) and advised that I leave and call them tomorrow. Another employee also told me the jeweler misplaces things all the time, also not comforting. They attempted to give me someone else’s ring. I left the store without my grandmothers ring and having no idea where it is. An hour after I left they called me and told me the jeweler indeed had it and I should call them. I called the next morning and Josh told me that the ring would be back in the store tomorrow for me to come pick it up and asked me if I wanted to proceed with the ring design which I thought was comical given what had transpired. I went back to the store two days later and spoke with another employee. She asked me for my receipt, I told her I was never given one, and she told me “that’s fine, they don’t really matter anyways” (also concerning.) She asked for my name and said, here it is! and emptied an envelope onto the counter….. it was not my ring. I could have said, that’s it! And left with someone else’s ring without the employee questioning it. I told her that was not my ring and once again a search of the store pursued. After several minutes I am told Josh will be back with my ring at 3:30pm (it was currently 2pm) and they asked me if I wanted to wait. I informed them I was told that the ring would be back yesterday and that my patience had worn out.
I went back the next day and finally left with the ring. The ring was a wedding band and a second ring like a shell for the wedding band. They only had taken the shell and when I went to connect it to the band it was clearly severely deformed from original and it didn’t properly fit the wedding band anymore. The staff again made excuses and took zero accountability. This was one of the worst experiences I have had. Knowing this incompetent business had my late grand mothers wedding ring which I held onto so dearly and simply misplaced it for several days is beyond horrifying. I want to warn people not work with Josh and his business. I am a local West Seattlite and was excited to work with a local business but they have lost my trust and I have no choice but to work with...
Read moreDo not shop here! My ex fiancé was a loyal customer of theirs for close to 20 years and has purchased many beautiful pieces in the past. In Nov-Dec of 2020 he purchased a 3.2 carat engagement ring and was told if things didn’t work out or if I didn’t like it he could return it. My fiancé paid CASH for the ring in the middle of the pandemic and was assured he could return if I didn’t like it… which I did not. The stone was huge, yes, but it was yellow and dull (see photos below). You would think Josh and his dad would give loyal customers the best deals or at least provide a quality diamond but alas greed took over. Had the diamond been GIA certified or came with official papers other than Josh’s typed out the appraisal value, things might have gone differently but unfortunately they got greedy. The ring was returned to them shortly after the proposal in 2021 and they still refuse to refund my fiancés money. He made several appointments with the owners who didn't bother to show up, he filed a complaint with Washington’s Attorney General* who is investigating the case. He also contacted the BBB but surprise, they are NOT a BBB accredited company even after being in business since 1973. The owners son Josh said he would take the ring back because he could definitely sell it. *Update: The WAG case was a mediation process in hopes Menashe's would do the right thing. They responded with slow sales, layoffs, and possible closure. Details are posted on the WAG website.
5/21/25 The attorney general DID NOT rule in your favor. Your response to the IG was ridiculous; blaming COVID and lack of business. No wonder you’re not part of the Better Business Bureau, you’d have to have some integrity. Why be honest when you don’t have to be? Shame on you Josh for being so greedy and kicking people when they are down. Deny it again and I’ll post the entire attorney package and all your texts promising a full refund. You scammed him out of thousands… what a standup...
Read moreHave used this jeweler for several repairs and appraisals. All in all it was not too bad. However, this last experience unfortunately has made me no longer wish to give them my business.
We had a ring resized, for the second time which is what we asked so that’s not the issue. The issue is that 3 diamonds and some gold was cut out of the ring for the sizing and we were assured we would receive it. When arriving to pick up the ring the woman assisting us retrieved the envelope and was opening the contents on the counter which contained a bag with the spare diamonds and gold, the ring which was I must say sized very well, and the ticket.
Watching the employee, she then palms the bag with the diamonds and tucks it into the drawer under the counter. Now seeing this as we are about to pay I ask “where are the spare diamonds” she said “oh let me look I didn’t see them” then proceeds to pull them out of the drawer where she placed them saying “oh here they are”. At this point we are completely turned off. Whether the employee was taking it for themself or if they were holding onto it for the business to use this type of blatant dishonesty is not something we will support.
Unfortunately with the experience we had we will not frequent this well known family owned...
