Utterly bewildering and unprofessional conduct.
While I almost never find myself posting negative reviews, I feel I have little choice in the face of the unprofessional contact displayed by VAIN.
My partner was an regular and satisfied customer of VAIN for well over a year up until this last weekend, when after being out of town for several days, she received an email from VAIN's management informing her that they would no longer be offering her any services.
This came as a complete shock, as it had been nearly a week since she last attended and she was not aware of any issues or problems; she had paid promptly and was satisfied with her haircut and the services provided. After requesting some sort of explanation, they indicated they would only speak with her; they then proceeded to send her an email refusing to divulge any details, only vaguely saying that "some interactions" had "made staff uncomfortable". Further requests for clarification were met with an additional email that said "some recent visits have been concerning" while still directly and outright refusing to provide any details or explanation.
While I fully support the business's interest and right to protect their employees, this conduct is grossly unprofessional. We are still utterly mystified as to what infraction(s) were committed, let alone what was so egregious that it required a banning from the business (or why it was necessary to wait an entire week or apparent months before issuing the ban without any kind of warning if it was so egregious). Despite our attempts to respectfully request some kind of explanation, absolutely no clarification has been provided, nor was there any warning that there were concerns at any point prior to this.
My partner would have been more than willing to apologize and make amends if anything was done (she has very much appreciated the staff for working with her), and was willing to respect the business's decision regardless, but the refusal to provide any sort of clarification or explanation despite our repeated pleas is beyond the pale and has left her in no shortage of anxiety and mental anguish.
I sadly cannot recommend this business to anyone; any services they may provide are outweighed by the gross unprofessionalism on display here, as they apparently can and will ban you from the premises without explanation at any time. I will not be returning, and I hope the business reconsiders its poor...
Read moreI’m sure this place is great with colors, but the haircuts are lacking. I came in for what I believe to be a very simple haircut. I just wanted to get some bangs, layers, and to trim off my dead ends. The stylist was very kind and willing to negotiate on my length because she knew that it was important to me. She did a very good job with the bangs and she did cut off the dead ends (which my hair desperately needed), but did not give me layers. I was a little disappointed about the layers which I chalked up to a miscommunication, but overall okay. Again, the stylist was very helpful with answering my questions and very nice to chat with. She didn’t show me the cut until after she had curled it, so I didn’t know just how bad my hair was. When I went home the curls brushed out fairly easily and I noticed just how uneven the cut was. One side of my hair is 2 inches longer than the other and the bottom is very choppy. I am severely disappointed because I have to take more length off now in order to fix how uneven the cut is. My partner came back to the salon with the photos of my ends and they told us to email the owner, which we promptly did. They only offered to have us get a cut by the same stylist (which I am a little uncomfortable with after how my ends turned out), or to wait 5 days to have another stylist fix it. I was able to make an appointment at a different salon (who even offered to stay late to fix it). At this point I am only interested in getting a refund for the amount I had to pay to fix it at the other salon, but it seems like they are unwilling to give me that. I was expecting a much better service for the price that I paid, and am left feeling very sad and disappointed. While the stylist was nice and the time I spent there was enjoyable I will never be able to justify the money I saved up...
Read moreWorst salon experience ever. I showed the stylist a photo of the color I wanted (and have successfully achieved in the past). I asked if she thought it was possible for her to achieve the color and she confidently said yes. She slowly applied the color and I mean SLOWLY... I had color in my hair for around 5 hours and my scalp was BURNING!! I was worried at this point. Anyway she washed it out and said the color wasn't right. So she applied a toner and again I sat waiting. The salon closed by this point and I was still sat in the chair (6 hours had passed now). She washed it out and the color was still wrong. It was so brassy/orange and I'd asked for a silver balayage. As a stylist if you feel you are incapable of achieving a desired result, don't say yes! She did offer for me to come back another day (with a different stylist....) but by this point my head was in pain, my stomach was rumbling as I'd now been there for SEVEN HOURS, I was fed up and did not intend on going back to see a different stylist. I box-dyed my hair the following week and I achieved better results than this stylist at VAIN did. And because she'd spent so long on the color, she rushed my cut. The receptionist must have been super fed up as she had to wait back until 7.30pm on a Sunday. The final price came and it was over $400 (Plus I tipped as I felt awkward but I instantly regretted it). What waste of time and money! Never again VAIN WS. I am scared to go to another salon now, you may not care about my review as you still got your money, but this experience has traumatized me and for that you should be accountable. Also shouldn't balayage be blended from dark to light? I don't understand why she gave me block roots. That defeats the point of a...
