Lady Jayne turned out to be a great find. Since the place was packed, we opted for seats at the bar—a decision that paid off immediately thanks to the warm and welcoming bartender. A strong start to the experience!
Now, let’s talk about the popcorn. The BEST popcorn I’ve ever had. I couldn’t stop raving about it, and the bartender rewarded my enthusiasm with a second helping. Honestly, I’d go back just for that. He even let us in on how they make it, so I might have to attempt a recreation at home.
There were four of us, which meant plenty of dishes to sample. The crowd favorite? The bologna sandwich (sadly, no picture). My personal winner, though, was the short rib sandwich. Every bite was packed with rich flavors, the perfect balance of cheese and sauce—it was everything a great sandwich should be. I’m still thinking about it.
The sides delivered across the board, with the dill fries being a particular standout. I love dill, so that extra touch was a welcome surprise.
The only letdown was the prawn sandwich. While the prawns themselves were flavorful, the sandwich itself lacked moisture—dry, no sauce, just missing something.
To round things out, they also have a back patio, which I imagine would be a great spot when the weather cooperates.

Read moreI say a bad restaurant should always get a second chance, but never a third. Well, tonight was my second time eating at Lady Jaye (first was maybe a year and a half ago) and there will NOT be a third.
I wanted to like this place. Good reviews. Close to my house. But both times I've been, the food has just sucked. Tonight I got the Wednesday Special (prime rib sandwich with horseradish mayo) and it tasted (and smelled) like feet. I was expecting a nice thick cut of meat, but it was thinly sliced grey meat covered by too much cheese and drowning that disgusting sauce so much so that I had to use a knife and fork to eat it. I finished maybe three bites.
For sides I got fries, slaw, and black eyed pees. The fries were good (hard to mess up French fries). Slaw was 5/10. Peas were disgusting and inedible. Total with a cocktail and a beer plus tip was $70. Outrageous for the quality. Service and atmosphere was nice enough though.
My first visit was on burger night and I also found it very underwhelming (I remember only eating half the burger and not taking it home). Man, I wish this place was better. West Seattle could really use a good BBQ joint. Unfortunately,...
Read moreGreat visit on the 2nd day open. Fairly busy with a lot of reservations but we were able to walk in and get a table on the patio. Luck ran out with the weather and some rain moved in but we were still able to move into an open table inside. Service was very good. They brought some experienced help in from their other places (our server came over from the White Swan). Great drink list and good beer list (but if beer's your thing just head over to Beer Junction practically next door). Had the house made potato chips and mushroom dip appetizer. Great chips. The dip was good but you could hardly taste the mushrooms. All 3 of us had the smoked turkey drum dinner. I don't know where they find turkeys with drumsticks this big but they are huge. I would agree with their description that these are smoked meats, not really barbecue. The applewood smoke goes perfectly with the turkey meat. Ended up taking half of it home and having a smoked turkey sandwich the next day. Very promising new spot-can't wait to go back and try more. (Who am I kidding, I'll get the turkey...
