This place has been around since my childhood (20+ years) and there's good reason for it! Great local grocery store that's kitty corner from the Montlake library, directly next to the neighborhood dry cleaners--you can't miss it! Very ideal for those "Oh no, I forgot __ that I need for dinner!" Or "Would really prefer not to have to go to the big grocery store when all I need is; this, that and those!" And for a small grocery store, I personally think they're very reasonably priced, especially for such convenience as well as the fact that you're definitely paying for quality over quantity there! And now that "Hop In" is long gone, don't forget to support the little guy. Mostly friendly staff, great selection of necessities as well as items you wouldn't find anywhere else. Whether you need a couple of things, or a whole grocery list, swing on by Monts Market so they can stick around for another 20+ years! The aisles may be a little tight, but it's simply because they're trying to pack everything in so you don't have to go to the "big guys," besides, if you go at the right time of day, you may have the luxury of having the store all to yourself as I've had the pleasure of my last couple of visits and you...
Read moreExcellent selection and fair, affordable pricing. I've been coming here since i moved to the neighborhood about two years ago. Though small, the grocery/deli has a superb selection of shelf/pantry/dairy products, many local and regional choice brands. Their produce section is limited, but in a pinch there's always a few organic veggies to choose from. I usually shop at the Central Co-op, and Mont's carries many of the same brands, at lower prices ! That's why I shop here not only for emergencies, but also for my weekly purchases. Support this neighborhood store so it can stick around! Owned and operated by a wonderful Korean family, friendly and kind staff, who keep early-to-late hours, and have kept the store open even through these days of snow that have shut down most of the city. Grateful to have this convenience...
Read moreDon't give your money to them. I wanted to support this mom and pop store originally, but they really left a bad impression on me. They hired a new cashier and they inputed my total amount wrong, overcharging me $72. I never got my money back. When I called the owner (the wife) she said I had to come in the store to get my refund, but I told her I live far away and didn't have time to go back. So I tried to get my bank to play the middle man.
Mont's never gave me a receipt so I couldn't dispute my incorrect charge with my bank. Always ask for a receipt if you go here, they never give you one if you don't ask I guess. When I called the owner a second time she accused me of trying to take money from them, yelling at me.
Save your money and go support a more...
