let me start by saying that i really wanted to love this place and in all honestly probably would have had i been assigned a different nail technician.
the experience even started off SO promising - my partner and i were able to score day of appointments and we were warmly welcomed by a sweet woman (owner or manager?) and were given some time to choose a polish. my partner wanted a basic pedicure and i splurged and went for the deluxe (or royal) pedicure. shortly after choosing our colors, we were escorted to our seats and asked if we wanted a drink from their fridge - i went for a truly but saw they also had waters, la croixs and beer too.
when the pedicure started is when things started to go wrong - i noticed my partners technician was doing an AMAZING job while i felt that my tech was rushing from the start, which was confusing to me because i had asked for the deluxe. both pedicures offer hot towels to soothe the legs which i generally LOVE but she didn’t take the time to let it cool down and it was SCALDING. :(
there was a point where my partner got the paraffin wax and my tech seemed to be starting to paint my nails? so i inquired about the wax and that i had requested the deluxe pedicure. she very visibly got confused and a little upset. it turned out that we were assigned the incorrect techs from the start, so i completely understand how this mixup could happen but it seemed to really annoy my tech. following that she quickly got me set up with a leg masque and then even quicker got me set up with the paraffin wax and then she disappeared - just stayed in the back and my partners nail tech finished up for her. which was a relief but honestly so incredibly awkward for me. it seemed like all of the other employees felt a bit awkward too.
*it’s important to for me to state that i really loved Ruby - she did an amazing job on both my and my partners pedicures. They also only charged us for one deluxe and one basic pedicure for the miscommunication, which was a really sweet gesture. while i will make sure to request a different tech moving forward, i WILL go back and give them another shot. Once I do, i will be sure to update my review to reflect...
Read moreMoral of the story: Royal Nails has the best service at a nail salon in Seattle.
As someone who gets their nails done often, I still struggle speaking up when I’m not happy with a service. I asked for French chrome. First time they were done, I wasn’t pleased because I could see my natural nail underneath. I called & they said they could fix it if I came back. I hadn’t left the area yet, so I went back. The manager or owner (I believe her name is Mandy) sat me down and went over options on how to redo my nails. I chose to have add another coat of the base color. She redid all of them. I stupidly didn’t speak up when I saw how pink my nails were, but was going to be okay with them anyways. I think Mandy has a sixth sense because she could tell I still wasn’t happy with them. So, she came up with a solution for a similar design that would ultimately be more of an ombré french tip. She redid all of them. AGAIN. I felt horrible, and she continuously reassured me that she only wants her customers to be happy. If I were her, I would have been extremely annoyed & would hesitate to redo a client’s nails for a 3rd time. She never once showed any negativity towards me & was so kind. Everyone in this salon is kind. She stayed late & made sure that I was completely happy with my nails & I’ve never had such a genuine & caring experience at a nail salon in my life. Another moral of the story is I need to learn how to speak up & be a better client; but I’ve never felt more taken care...
Read moreI got some gel extensions done here and I have never been more unhappy with a nail service appointment. Didn’t ask me to wash hands prior to appointment. Gave me zero nail or cuticle prep, nails weren’t clipped and cuticles were not pushed back or trimmed which is normal standard practice for gel extension appointments. She just began glopping gel glue onto my bare natural nails. Didn’t even ask what shape I wanted, just popped the nails on out of the box and gave them polish and a quick file. I have a hard time standing up for myself so I didn’t say anything. It took about 20 minutes all together when normal gel extension appointments take at least an hour. While waiting for my ride to get me I looked at the nails more closely and noticed how much glue buildup was underneath the nails and spilling out onto my cuticles. The glue underneath was literally still gooey and wet, it was collecting dirt and dust already it was really gross. When I went up to pay I told the cashier I didn’t like them and showed them all the problems I had. I asked for a discount and they said no but gave me a gift card. I was SO bummed. They broke off after two days—most likely because it was a rush job and they gave me zero nail prep so there was no traction to keep them hanging on and the glue never fully dried. My nails underneath were brittle, soft, and jagged. Never been so disappointed w a nail service before. If you care about your nail health do...
