Terribly disappointed with our experience. They say first impressions are the most important and that couldn’t have been more true for us during a time of need. After 2 DR appointments over 3 days and one solid hour of hurled over the toilet I phoned the doctor and they told me to take my husband to the ER right away. As soon as we pulled up we were pleased it did not appear busy. When we walked in no one was sitting at the front desk but we heard a voice saying “back here.” My husband and I just stood there in complete confusion and said “we hear someone but not sure where it’s coming from.” The woman said “keep walking…second window” the second window was completely out of sight from our view from the front door. The woman seemed to lazy to get up and greet us God forbid the medical emergency was greater! I proceeded to share why we’re were in and she said “ I can’t hear you because of your mask,” very snarky. I pulled my mask down, and bit my tongue. I’m pretty sure the look on my face made it known how displeased I was and the look on my husbands face how sick he was. My husband continued to explain. We provide our drivers licenses medical insurance cards and the RX he was on. The woman said I don’t need that, referring to our RX, I don’t do anything with medical and told us to take a seat. We waited 30-35 minutes to be met by the triage nurse. Another less pleasant person. She asked what the doctor diagnosed my husband with and we told her verbatim what the summary said and she replied that’s a different way of saying “sore throat” and continued to undermine my husbands illness. She asked what the doctor prescribed. When we showed the amoxicillin RX she said “only dumb doctors prescribe amoxicillin, they give that to patients to just appease them to keep them happy.” I was in utter disbelief in this woman’s lack of care compassion or professionalism. We were sent back to the waiting room and called another 35 minutes later for a bed. My husband was swabbed in the waiting room for COVID and Strep. On our way to the bed he was told he was strep positive COVID negative. The floors were dirty! The room was cold (to be expected) but he nor I weren’t even offered a blanket or a sheet! I just really couldn’t believe how dirty the facility was, from the cabinetry to the equipment stained and caked in dust and dirt and I am certain I saw mold around what looked like the base of a toilet in the room that now was converted to a seat/chair of some kind. The ER doctor came in, politely introduced herself and ended up prescribing my husband AMOXYCILLIN! The same drug we came in with that the triage nurse said “only dumb doctors prescribe.” We arrived by 1130PM and left by 130AM. I do not recommend this ER to anyone! Go to Melbourne or Vero!
The next day the ER calls, we’re thinking to check on us, see how my husband was doing or what our experience was like. No. They gave us the total of our ER visit and said they encourage all patients to pay half up front (now).
Provided not only my husband but now I am sick I told them to bill us and we will pay it. They said they’ll call back next week. When I asked for what reason they said to collect payment. I said that is unnecessary BILL US and WE WILL PAY IT.
No compassion. No care. Disgustingly dirty for an ER.
The ER doctor deserves better than this place but 1 star for her professionalism and the sweet note she wrote on the discharge papers that thanked us for...
Read moreWas her awhile back with my teenage daughter. We came in with increasing severe abdominal pain. They never took vitals first red flag, in back they drew blood, and asked for a urine sample; ok no problem other than no vitals were taken as of yet. Then in comes dr while my daughter is in restroom producing said sample says “oh it’s just her period, she will be fine”. Uh what mind you they never did her urinalysis or got the sample nor did the dr even lay eyes on my daughter. Red flag number two. Hours later of doing nothing in walks nurse to discharge us for period pain; again no vitals taken, no Tylenol or ibuprofen given, no urinalysis, dr never laid eyes on my daughter; she couldn’t even say what my daughter looked like if her life depended on it. I said so what were the results of the tests oh all was great with the urinalysis (uh what, we were still holding the sample), all was completely normal with vitals ( uh what they weren’t done) and bloodwork was perfect. I then questioned the nurse advocating for my daughter how she could say that when the urine sample was still in my daughter’s hand, and no vitals were taken to please explain how they were normal, and how come the dr never came back to actual examine my daughter the patient. To which I was told well urinalysis was done they have the report, vitals were taken when I was not in the room, uh again never left the room and the only time my daughter was out of my sight was to use restroom right next to the room and my daughters urine sample was in her hand still. The nurse said I don’t like your tone you are being very threatening. I repeated all I said is those things were not done and wanted to know how they had results. She kept saying stop threatening me (um never once threatened or raised my voice). Finally I say take the iv out my daughters arm seeing as you are discharging her we will go get her care where they will do the proper examination and tests. She walks out the room not taking out the iv statingI am not taking the iv out as you keep treating me like this. In walks supervisor saying we are being discharged as all tests were normal no more they could do and said I need to treat their staff with respect. and I repeat take the iv out my daughters arm so we can leave. She says not till you treat us with respect; I said ma’am your dr did not lay eyes on my child and diagnosed her, no exam was done on her, urine sample is still in my daughters hands, no vitals were taken and I did not disrespect your staff by pointing that out. That is neglect and the diagnosis not possible now kindly remove iv from my daughters arm so we can leave and get her medical care, you are discharging her let us go. Finally another nurse came in took it out and we left. Took her to another place she has a very serious uti and needed antibiotics. Wow how easy it is to get to the root of the problem when the test is actually run. Stay clear of here especially...
Read moreI cut my leg I need a aloe vera plant a very large and very long spikes that slice right through my leg and the blood spewing out. I was taking over to Sebastian Hospital in Sebastian on US1 and upon getting their people were wonderful absolutely wonderful. The chicken area the people were wonderful and understanding the nurse that came to help me I don't know her name wonderful understanding they really got to the room and I sat there for three and a half hours and no one I'm going to say no one not a nurse not a doctor no one came in to check on me. I understand emergency rooms are busy for when I got there it was just me and somebody else. The 3 1/2 hours I was there people come and gone. I thought I thought I had no insurance cuz I mentioned that to the person who brought me over to the hospital and I was immediately schooled from a nurse. I was told know that's against the law to turn away anybody with no insurance. still no one had come to see me. Then I thought they're milking my insurance company. I've been through this Hospital before in the past so they have all my information. I have great insurance they're milking my insurance company. the entire medical staff ignored me until I got up and I walked out. At that point in only at that point they took notice of me.and they asked where are you going. I said I'm leaving I've been here for 3 1/2 hours not one nurse or doctor checked on why i was there. The woman next to me who was drunk. The nurse had come in sat down in the chair and talk to her for probably 35 to 40 minutes. can see me but not even said one word to me. The drunk woman told the male nurse her entire life story about her alcoholism and her kids and her mother and family drama. Took her to the bathroom. the female doctor came in and ask her some questions. About smoking and drinking and her fingernails and if she does any other drugs that's not prescribed to her. It was at the point that the woman stood up out of the bed and almost fell through the curtain on to me while I was in my bed that point I said I'm done. I gather my things together and as I'm walking out that's when they want to know who I was and where I was going. 35 minutes after I've already home that's when I got a phone call from them asking him where I was and why I walked out. And that's when they left the phone number saying please give us a call back so we can help you in any way you need help. They had three and a half hours to help and they did nothing. Based upon this experience if you have the choice of going to Vero Beach or Melbourne or Palm Bay don't go...
