The internet. I live in Floresville and this is about the only provider available where I'm at. Fiber is not yet available and who knows if it actually ever will, we have to rely on line of sight. This wasn't too bad I was able to get at least 6mbps download when i pay for 8mbps. Recently, for the past month for some reason our speeds have drastically dropped and we keep losing connectivity for multiple days at a time. I've called 4 different times and each time I get told that someone will follow up which they didn't. I had to call a 5th to finally get a scheduled visit. I was given a 5hr time frame of when they would come and on the 6th hour someone arrived. The gentlemen worked on our receiver for about an hour and finally came back in and told us that the main tower had been updated and the new line of sight equipment is not as powerful and was not effective on our geography. He tried putting updates on our receiver but they were not effective and he put old equipment back on. I have internet connection, it is a .5mbps download speed. I will tell you right now that is not effective for anything, not when my wife has to do homework and I also have to work from home. It is not appropriate to update equipment and not tell your customer base that a change has been made and not attempt to update their equipment. It is not appropriate to charge customers $80 for 8mbps and only...
Read moreWe had been having issues with our AC since we bought our new home about 2 weeks ago. We were struggling with our home warranty company to send someone out to fix the problem. They sent out an AC guy, then another AC guy..to find that the problem was actually something an electrician had to fix. We had to cut power to the AC, because the issue was causing a fire hazard. Turns out that one of the breakers was installed poorly, casing an arc, which burned up the breaker and melted a lot of plastic and damaged the panel. Going on 2 full days without AC, and we finally got the green light to find our own service company. I started searching for a reputable electrician that could get it done ASAP. I called to check prices/availability and was greeted by a very helpful young man named Justin. He was able to answer all my questions and was very polite. He told me (around 2 pm) that they could have guys out "hopefully by 4". Chris and Wes knocked on my door at 2:50. They were able to diagnose the issue and quickly resolve the problem. The house was at 87° when they showed up, by 6 pm we were at a comfortable 72°. They were very polite, very professional, honest and they didn't leave a mess!! I am extremely satisfied with the service that GVEC provided from the very first encounter. If we need electrical services in the future, they will be the first...
Read moreAs far as their quickness and timely repairs the one time I needed them when my transformer blew they were great and got there quick and worked until the had it replaced and power back up and running. However, on the corporate end on things this cooperation, in my opinion is scandalous. They charge a 25 dollar membership per customer, what is this membership and what does it give us access to or do we have say in the cooperation? Not that I have been told or have noticed. Though I did have a buddy of mine that worked for GVEC tell me that at the end of each year they are only allowed to have a certain amount of money and the remainder is supposed to be paid back divided to each "member" of GVEC, instead they pay ridiculous amounts for fencing around their buildings and offices, even going as far as running a ground wire on each poll of their biggest fence at a ridiculous price, with the money that should have been given back to its members. I wish that I did not have to use them but unfortunately for the past going on 4 years they have been my electric provider. The extra fees and cost they put on the bill is absurd as well, not to mention if you switch your address even if the electric is still on where you are switching your name over to they hit you with a $50 some...
