First and foremost, this review is to highlight specifically the incident that transpired about an hour ago as I was exiting the facility and is not an indictment of our neighborhood Meijer.
This evening I shopped for a few items primarily in the fresh food aisle. I saw bulk shallots were on sale advertised for $2.79#; however, when I processed my cart at the self-checkout line, the shallots rang up $3.99#. Not being one to assume, I scanned all my items, bagged them, and proceeded toward the exit, but before departing I left my cart near the entrance walked back over to verify that I had read the sale price. Realizing there was a price issue, I casually pointed out to 'Joyce' that, 'Hey, I just wanted to let you know that the advertised sale price for shallots is not what is being rung up at the registers.' I presumed I would have gotten something to the effect of thank you and if you'd like a price adjustment you'll need to proceed to customer service.
Not the case with Joyce. She proceeded to say 'you'll need to go talk to somebody over there.' I said, 'Oh, I thought you worked for Meijer and I was just trying to give you a heads up.' Her snappy response was, 'That's NOT part of my job!' I asked, 'Do they know that?' and proceeded to the customer service area where I asked to speak with the manager.
Manager was very courteous when I asked what role do the folks at the door play for your operation. The manager was very courteous and said they are Loss Prevention and that they do not work for the same Corporate Meijer as the Associates. I asked if they receive any Customer Service Training. The Manager explained that they did not. She went on further to excuse their behavior since many of them are ex-military. I said Pardon me, but I'm ex-military and furthermore I ex-military K-9 police who also currently works for the VA. The manager asked if I would like to have a price adjustment. I said no. I was only looking out for others and would have been fine to walk out the door with a simple thank you and I'll let someone know. She repeated herself are you sure you don't want a price adjustment. I said No I would prefer you guys not hire A-Holes.
On my way out the door, Joyce had recruited a compadre to come stand with her by the exit. I walked up and calmly stated Customer Service was trying to excuse your behavior because many of you all are ex-military. I said I'm ex-military and the way you treated Us (because I was with my 7 year old son who holds veteran status in high esteem) was a disgrace and that you should be ashamed. She continued on saying something to Us, but I said have a nice night and we walked out.
I hope they conduct some customer service training for these folks. Thanks to all the Vets out there not allowing their core values to backslide to a dismissive...
Read moreUpdate 12.10.2023. Very disappointing the store itself is in distress. The bakery poor, you can tell it is frozen bakery, subpar decorating skills. The diary department needs tremendous help, spoiled and expired your and dairy spilled on the floor inside the refrigerators. The produce and veg have spoiled and moldy items, I actually picked up a bag of rotten dripping potatoes and handed them to the produce guy he just gave me a look of disgust. Customer service is awful, I actually reached out to corporate office regarding a terrible experience. This store needs help, half the time there is not enough employees to man the store. Just a shame. I had had such hopes for this new store.
Update: still holding up and doing a great job! Move over other big box stores! Meijer's family owned is now open in Seven Hills! Simply amazing & jammed packed with just about anything you can think of! Fresh flowers, fruits and veggies! Frozen items they have them! Butcher and deli, yep it's there too, Need to stop in for Pharmacy hello its here! Bakery just wait until you see their selection! House hold, gardening, clothing, BBQ coals and woodchips too! Honestly you have got to stop in and check it out! There is so much to see! Oh by the way running low on fuel, no problem they have it covered too! I almost forgot their pets section!! They offer a perks program at no cost, sign on line, tablet or any device, rather wait to sign up in store no problem! Self check out and traditional check out. Wheelchair accessible, handicapped parking! I honestly think the only thing missing is a dry cleaning service inside! Hmmmm, well now there's an idea! Welcome to the...
Read moreWent to Meijer on June 19th purchased groceries online $118.00. June 20th had a charge from Meijer for $116.93. Never went to the store on the 20th. Meijer was contacted by my wife on June 21st. Never contacted us back. I contacted them on June 27th. Over 1 hour on the phone with them and they still refuse to return our money. Seven Hills Police Department has a report on this. Meijer manager knows about this from the police officer. Had to contact our Discover Card and report fraud charge. Not one time did Meijer reach out to us and try to make this right. I was hung up on twice by two Meijer employees with customer service with corporate. Never will we shop there again !! Giant Eagle and Acme are very close. First time in my life have I been treated this way by a business. If I could leave a zero rating I would.
I thought I would give and update. Today was the day Discover told me to call back. Meijer never addressed the issue with Discover. Meijer would not let me talk to anyone about what's going on with my dispute! Meijer does not care about customers and when it's their mistake or an employee fraud. Multiple times I was promised from Meijer I would receive an update. Now, Discover says this dispute can take up to 60 days. At this point, Meijer has stolen $116.93 from our family. Not once have they tried to make this right. 3 hours invested in trying to get this resolved!...
