Dollar General — Local services in Shallotte

There I was, standing in line, for about 5 minutes or so. In front of me were several ladies, together, I think. When the female cashier finishes with them, here come a little kid, maybe 6,7 or 8 yrs old, not sure, but a kid, of Mexican descent. Zooms right past me, puts a little toy or something on the counter. Now, I know I could have spoken up, but I was curious as to whether the cashier would set them straight & correct him. MAYBE tell him, look sweety, you have to get in line BEHIND this gentleman & wait, like everyone else. Well, that does not happen & the female cashier checks him out. Then, my turn, I'm like hesitant to walk up and place my item on the counter, I ask her if she wanted to let anyone ELSE jump ahead of me in line. Oh, she said, I didn't realize what had happened. So, you're telling me I stood there in line for around five minutes & you didn't NOTICE I was next?? You weren't looking??? I said, "Only in America, only in America". Those were my only words. We need more Paulas in this world!!!! I dropped off a package to this DG as it is a FedEx drop off site. I dropped it off on Thursday, didn’t receive any verifications that it had been received, drove back on Saturday and met Paula. She told me she would check with the driver and check in with me later, which she did. She told me the driver said he thought he had picked it up but I should confirm w fedex.

I called FedEx, they didn’t have it, nor any record. So I called Paula back on her cell phone, she was not at work and off the clock but because she wanted to make it right she drove back to the store on her own time to confirm that the package was there (but not scanned in) and submitted it into the FedEx system herself.

She turned a frustrating exchange into an example of the epitome of customer service. Give this...

CHECK THE EXPIRATION DATE After purchasing 2 medications from this store that were expired (by over a year), I check the expiration date on EVERYTHING. I still utilize this store because its location is convenient, I just check everything. Each time I go in I find expired products. Expired milk, expired cookies. I'm not sure of their inventory policies, but it seems like they never get rid of expired merchandise.
