8/6/16 I am not a high maintenance person. When I go into a store like this, I know exactly what I need before entering. I entered the hardware store this morning to buy a gas can. When walking in I was not greeted, but stared at like what are you doing in here. I went to the automotive area and could not find a can, so I went the the older man at the checkout. I asked him for a small gas can and without smiling but gruffly pointed with his thumb behind him without saying a word. I thought ok, I now see them on the top shelf against the wall. I guess I will have to reach up there and get it myself. He barked at the boy, who was leaning up against the counter blocking the isle where the gas cans were, to get a can down for me. The boy didn't smile nor did he say anything when I thanked him. The girl at the register where I checked out was pleasant but hardly said a word. The one star in my review goes to her. Customer service is the maker or breaker of any business. I felt very uncomfortable stepping foot in this store and unless I am desperate, I will not be going back. I live less than a mile from this store but I will be going the extra miles to another hardware store. We can not say enough about Kevin and his team at Beach Hardware in Ocean Isle Beach. My husband is a licensed electrician in Brunswick County and Kevin is his go to for parts. The staff at Beach Hardware go above and beyond every single day. Their customer service is outstanding and there is always someone there to help find what you are looking for. If there is something we need that is not in stock Kevin immediately orders it and let’s us know when it arrives. The staff is knowledgeable about parts and where they are located throughout the store. The store is kept clean and organized.
