All fun and games until the owner flips his lid. My main issue is with the temperamental owner, he got very defensive very fast, before he fully understood the situation. (either that or he actually understood the situation and spontaneously reacted very poorly, which may be the case) Other than that, Great retail selection and very friendly, helpful workers. The owner lost his temper and yelled at me in front of my boys and all racers only because we questioned a procedure that was completely new to us, as we were never informed of these "over-load, situational rules" before racing. It's not our fault the track was overloaded with racers. To our surprise, someone not employed by the establishment called out amateur racers to stop racing for the time being. This person never stated when these racers may return. So, naturally, I inquired as to why this happened and asked when my boys could return to racing. All I was inquiring about was for clear instruction as to the procedure we were expected to follow. After he stated that his racers take it upon themselves to create timed shifts, I then understood, and even agreed there may be a need for timed shifts in times like these.
All I requested was to let us know upon arriving/paying that there are "shifts" currently taking place due to the volume of racers and that you may not race freely, as usual. We normally go on days that are less crowded and never experienced this before. There is no regulation of the number of racers on the track at any given time, so the owner leaves it up to his hard-core racers whom are not very family-friendly.
Needless to say we packed up and left after being yelled at and belittled by the owner, what a jerk.
Its a shame that we may never return to Larry's due to this embarrassing experience, especially after we went all-in purchasing all of the start-up equipment required for this hobby for us three.
I was walking away in disbelief as he actually followed me, yelling at me, and made me feel like a villain, I just wanted to disappear.
We were just trying to go on with our day that we looked forward to, as my boys haven't had an early release from school in a few weeks due to spring break time off. A major disappointment to say the least.
P.S. now that I'm no longer an advocate I'll share some more fact. Beware, some of the workers may try to oversell you, so, be sure you get only what you need and ask for separate parts instead of kits that include extra things you may not need, this is also mentioned in other reviews so I'm not the only one being oversold. (Only I didn't mind at first, I knew I was paying for extra stuff, I figured it was worth the service and I just considered the extra pieces my spare parts,...
Read moreHave been coming to Larry's RC for years and it's like a kid in a candy shop every time I go. They carry so many different models, different manufacturers and different areas of rc for one to chose from. It makes one want to have one of every thing.
Mike, Chris, Eric and crew are all friendly, professional and knowledgeable about rc's in general. Highly recommended for all one's rc needs or getting into to the rc world. There is wealth of knowledge in the building.
They have two indoor tracking to try out your new toy or for those more competitive there is a larger track in back with races/competition that conducted every so often. Their prices are very reasonable to $3 for a half day or $6 for all day of racing/driving rc fun.
Great place for large groups to get together and have fun. They have a repair shop there also. Check on hourly rates as this writer at time of this writing didn't know the rates.
They have restrooms on sight and large parking lot and handicap parking.
They also have layaway for a little down to hold that special gift to oneself or a friend or family member.
They accept cash, credit cards, debit cards and I believe they do offer gift cards.
Coming here you will not be...
