This place started out amazing and things really were great for a lot of people. The location was amazing and they always had a variety. With each move, it seems options continue to dwindle and/or prices are just too unrealistic for outdated product. Their zero tolerance policy for dealing with any returns or issues with products really has turned me off. From my understanding, they have had a lot of theft and centralizing their store to one location I'm sure has helped with that. But the prices still just don't seem to be realistic when it comes to their mission in providing a good deal. Sure it beats retail but what am I really benefiting paying between 20%-40% less but am gambling if it's going to realistically be healthy to eat with genuinely no harmful side affects. Like if it's a product that's stored in plastic, how do we know it hasn't been out in the sun? Is there legitimate quality control going on... My shopping experience continues to dwindle because their prices go up and quality/quantity doesn't seem to reflect that. I understand this is a challenging industry but some of the things I've seen in the shelves here are just unreal and they'll sit their for weeks... Finishing my point about saving a buck. So if we are buying outdated product and let's say about 10% of what we buy is actually gross and not even really usable, what are we really saving. Don't get me wrong, the benefits of this place outweigh the negatives tenfold. But it's up to the consumer to be absolutely precise with their shopping decisions or this place can quickly be just as expensive as a regular retailer when you factor everything I just said. Be diligent when you come her and don't take everything with a grain of salt. Especially the sauces. If I were to do the math on my entire purchase history here which is well into the thousands, I'm sure my savings versus a retail spender would be in the range of 30% but that comes with having to diligently check products while also having to basically kind of trial thing for the first year to learn how they price things according to how they'll...
Read moreThough lacking a sign on the space inhabited in a small strip mall at 523 North Kiwanis, their name can be found on the property signage. They are worth finding for the low discounted prices on discontinued, unsold & damaged groceries including non-food items! I did realize that some of the prices were more than say Walmart, but not enough to stop me buying. Some of the items can be past the expiration date, but can still be used. There are even a few free items here & there when they get a large amount of something or it's expired or nearing the date.
The aisles are small as it is a small space, but it wasn't unbearable when we were there early on a Saturday afternoon. The door is not handicapable & I'm not sure if there was a ramp into the building. And though tight, you could probably maneuver a wheelchair or similar device inside. There is no public restroom & of course only one checkout/cashier so that can take awhile. But if you're like me & love a bargain you can wait. I mean, you can't beat a 15 ounce jar of Ragu pasta sauce for a buck! And it wasn't expired. The expiration date was a whole year away.
The store includes all manner of food - refrigerated, frozen & pantry. They have various name & off-brand options. There was a section for personal things such as shampoo & deodorant. Then household items including dish soap & cleaners. There was even what seemed odds and ends where I found Halloween themed bowls! You might want to visit frequently since the items change daily based on what they receive. They're open Monday-Friday 10am-5pm and Saturdays 10am-4pm, closed Sundays. They accept cards only - no cash & all sales are final. They do have an Eastside location as well at 4510 East 10th Street.
I felt it had a pleasant atmosphere with a few plants here & there & some decor signs on the walls. They do not currently accept food stamps (EBT/SNAP), but they are working on it. All in all a place I will return with the ridiculous prices on everyday...
Read moreIt used to be a great place. Now it's over priced, out dated food comparable to Walmart prices. Very close. You can do better at Dollar Tree. You can find some interesting products, they buy pallets from all over the US, but the prices keep creeping up and up and much of the food is near date or out of date. It'd be fine, but the ingredients in jars are separated, discolored. Out date, near out of date. I didn't mind, when it was half or less than half retail, but that was when they FIRST opened. Go look for yourself. They sell tons of things at such an overpriced rate. A dented can of peas for .80 cents?. Keep it. The place is off my rotation now. They should be ashamed of themselves. Ripping folks off, with out dated, improperly stored food for just pennies cheaper (if at all) than a regular store. Here are 22 pics of some of what I saw today Pics all taken at new location on Minnesota on January 2nd, 2025 You can get an idea of some things they have and how these items are priced and presented It's not affordable, when they offer ZERO refunds and so many things are expired, but like not just by date, also by quality. I can't believe they're ev2nnin business. Surely, people deserve better. Just shop sales are regular stores and use this place if you want to find something more unusual or exotic... or cheap, cheap hostess goods. They have so many of those individual cake things, they could give them away and provide snacks for homeless or starving, but they shouldnt charge...
