While I can't write a review of a specific restaurant called "Golden Bowl" because I don't have access to real-time, local business information or personal dining experiences, I can certainly write a detailed, example review based on the qualities you've described. You can use this as a template or inspiration to write your own! A Hidden Gem of Authentic Chinese Cuisine Golden Bowl is a true neighborhood treasure, a place where the vibrant, authentic flavors of Chinese cooking shine through in every dish. Forget what you think you know about Americanized Chinese food; this is the real deal. From the moment you walk in, you can tell this isn't your average takeout joint. The aroma of spices and simmering sauces fills the air, promising a meal that lives up to the hype. The real magic of Golden Bowl lies in its food. Each dish I've tried has been a masterpiece of flavor and texture, from the perfectly crispy skin of the Peking Duck to the delicate, savory filling of their handmade soup dumplings. A standout dish for me is the mapo tofu—a fiery, numbing, and incredibly satisfying classic that perfectly balances the silken tofu with a rich, spicy sauce. It's a dish that's hard to find done this well outside of China. What truly sets Golden Bowl apart, however, is its incredible flexibility and "secret" offerings. For those in the know, there's a hidden menu of traditional, regional specialties that aren't on the main list. Simply ask your server about their daily specials or what they recommend for a more authentic experience. They're more than happy to guide you. On one visit, I asked for a custom version of a noodle dish with a specific type of vegetable, and they were happy to make the change without any hesitation. This willingness to cater to individual preferences and create bespoke dishes is a testament to the kitchen's skill and dedication to their customers. Golden Bowl isn't just a restaurant; it's a culinary experience. It's a place where you can explore the depths of Chinese cuisine and feel confident that you're getting an authentic, high-quality meal every time. If you're looking for something beyond the typical fare and want to discover a true taste of China, make a point to visit. You won't be...
Read moreWe came to celebrate my mother in law’s birthday on Easter Sunday. Our waitress was extremely rude. She wasn’t helpful and acted like she didn’t want us there. Portions were very small (half a plate size) so we had to order two entrees for the men. My brother in law ordered fried rice with beef and chicken and it had 4 pieces of beef and 3 pieces of chicken in the entire dish. When he asked to order a side of beef, the waitress said we couldn’t. He said “ok, I just want more meat.” She said, “next time, order extra beef.” He was still hungry. I suggested he order the beef appetizer and she said “yes I guess you could do that:” I asked for lo mein with tofu, a common item on Chinese menus. They had tofu but wouldn’t add it to the lo mein. I was told I could only get tofu with vegetables. The reason was that it wouldn’t look good because the tofu would get smooshy. I said I didn’t care. I was told no. I asked if I could get tofu on the side and she said “no. We don’t do sides.” My husband argued with her and she finally agreed to bring us a side of fried tofu. It was a very frustrating experience. She acted as though she resented us being there. Our check for 4 adults and a 6 year old for lunch was $150. The receipt was scribbled so it was illegible and we couldn’t figure out why we were charged so much. There was a $28 charge after the total. Tax? Who knows. The food was ok, but I will never go back to be treated like that again. Not worth the attitude or the price gouging. There are many other places that are better value and won’t act like...
Read moreProbably the worst Chinese food I’ve ever had, after a Chinese buffet in another place in, you guessed it South Dakota! Rapid city to be exact lol 🤣 damn the Midwest has some TERRIBLE Chinese food. I give up, I just gotta go back to the east coast for any sort of decent Chinese. It just doesn’t exist out here even in somewhat sizeable cities, like SF and Fargo. Ordered sesame chicken…. And got what looked like…the type of chicken that comes with chicken and broccoli. What the… heck? Lol. And it was mostly sauce, too, hardly any chicken (not even a good sauce, watery and tasteless, with a few sesame seeds thrown in). And even then, sesame chicken is supposed to be breaded chicken! I honestly thought it was a joke. Never in my whole life have I seen it made like that, with that rubbery joke that you call chicken. So gross. The rice was also a joke too… just… ew. Tasted more like Mexican rice, talk about confusing! Lol. Left a bad taste in my mouth overall and felt upset cause my fiance just wanted to treat me to some Chinese, which I’ve been craving for years yet can’t find anything good out in this part of the country sadly. Wish we could have been refunded; it was also pricey for food quality that I quite honestly could have got better in the freezer section at Walmart- but I didn’t wanna make a ruckus about it- I just wanted...
