Not impressed. The beer and liquor selection is nice along with their prices, but that doesn't make up for dealing with rude customer service. People that work there are not very friendly at night. This was my first time here and definitely will be my last. I was told to put my stuff down in the store at the register as I was walking with 3 items. I am actually very good at holding multiple items but it didnt sound like put it down for your safety but more like put it down so we can make sure you don't steal. I went to look for another item, but was unable to find the brand I liked so I walked back to the register where I left my items. There was a line so I pick up my items from the register in order to pay. The cashier said rudely, what are you doing!!!! I told her there was a line so I was going to wait in line because I didn't want to cut in front of the customer that was in the line. She said you can leave it there. I asked her if there was a problem with me waiting in line with my items. She said no you can leave your stuff there because you're next. The customer that was in front of me said it was okay since she was about to be next. Then the cashier jokingly says, yeah I didn't want you to have to pick it up and put it back down. My thing is, if you are worried about me dropping anything, why not offer me a basket or simply say, you look like you have a handful, you can leave your stuff here if you want. Don't tell me after the fact your explanation when I feel like I am being rude to. You didn't explain yourself until I asked what the problem was. Totally felt disrespected and not valued for my business. If you go here, maybe try the day time versus night because you possibly could experience the same rudeness I did. By the way, I did feel like they were insinuating I was...
Read moreI recently visited Smyrna Beverage Warehouse on S. Cobb Drive in search of a bottle of bourbon for a gift. Upon arriving, I noticed an older gentleman sitting near the register who I assumed was either the owner or a manager. I approached him for advice on selecting a good bourbon, given the store’s large selection.
Instead of offering guidance, he bluntly informed me that all the bourbons in the aisle were “good,” otherwise they wouldn’t be stocked. While that might be true from a business perspective, his tone was dismissive and, frankly, off-putting. It felt more like he wanted to correct me than help me.
When he later asked if I needed assistance selecting a bottle, I said yes—hoping perhaps someone else might help. He came over himself, reiterated that the entire aisle was filled with "good" bourbon, and asked for a price range. I explained that I wasn’t sure, as I was unfamiliar with the category and was buying a gift. Rather than helping narrow things down, the interaction continued in a way that made me feel unwelcome—almost as though I was being bothersome for even asking for advice.
At that point, I politely excused myself and left the store. I ended up going to Paces Bottle Shop on Atlanta Road, where I received warm, knowledgeable service—even if it meant paying a bit more.
If you're considering visiting Smyrna Beverage Warehouse, be aware that while the selection is extensive, the customer service may leave you feeling dismissed or unwelcome. In today’s world, good service matters—and sometimes it’s worth paying a little more to be treated...
Read moreThis establishment is a Hidden Gem in the world of Fine Wine around Atlanta! The Collection is well-curated, and narrated by Jay and James in particular. It is my favorite place to go for a wine Adventure. The exterior belies the impressive selection Within, and I have no doubt that the craft beer and liquor choices are competitively priced. However, I visit for the wine, I drive 30 or 40 minutes out of my way in order to patronize this store. You can ask them to take you on a $30 Adventure, ask for help exploring a region, a varietal, or a style at various price points, and their selection of splurge bottles is excellent. While they do not have the vast selection on the floor of a total wine, every bottle is lovingly selected and purposely added to the collection. Unlike a big box retailer, there are no poor choices, as long as you have the patience for a 3-minute discussion with one...
