Had an appointment with Missy for a haircut and blowout. She ran a few minutes behind with her previous client but wait was minor. She did exactly what I asked her to do with the amount to cut and how I liked it styled - that's rare for me so I was pleasantly surprised. Prices are good. Staff and owner very polite. I definitely would go back. Only reason why I didn't give them 5 stars - their window designs. With all that space available to display they choose to display well styled mannequin heads? After recently moving to NJ from NY I desperately needed a haircut! After spending a long evening researching the internet for hair salons I came across The Hair Shop in South Amboy. I decided to go for it and nervously entered the salon. To my relief I was so warmly welcomed and acknowledged by all of the staff and owner. That was a good start, now came the work, hehe. The hair shop is under new management and it has turned the salon around for good. I've always loved Michael, Gabby and May at their original salon in Dunnellen and now this location is convenient for many more clients. This is a family owned business wherein they take great pride in their work and always focus on doing their best as against many other places where they don't care or they rush thru a job. They're always smiling and kind and give off a very positive vibe. And they're so so so good at what they do.
