*Updating as of April 24. I'm really bummed about this and im not sure if anything can be done but I want to share some insight as to my last 2 trips since my first one. We bouught the "kids bowl free" pack. And as soon as we did they sent us all the way down to the end of the alley. It's completely different down there. The screens are going out. The lanes are rippled. There are piles of boards everywhere. The pin setters lay the pins down and then before we can even throw the ball they fall over. We also have to pay for shoes and they are in pretty rough shape. But after 2 trips we feel like we might need to explore other options. When we paid full price we got new lanes. As soon as we got the kids pack now they throw us down in the slums. No one cares about bowling ettiqute. It feels like now that we are bowng for "free" we don't matter anymore. Our first experience was amazing. Now we feel like a bother. The demeanor from the counter employees is different, too. Thst first night she was super friendly. Tonight, the girl who helped didn't hardly even talk to us. I don't know what I expected but it wasn't this... original review to follow--- We always go to Joey Armadillos in Niles. It's close. We tried this place because my wife found it on Google and they had a pro shop. She wants a new ball. We show up on a Friday night and have no problem getting a lane. (Something we struggle with at Joey's) the people are super friendly and helpful. We find the pro shop and the dude in there is old school! No computers. Just math and diagrams. Within 20 minutes he has the calculations he needs and says "when do you want it?" We set up a date to pick it up. The food is "bowling alley food" which is what you say when you want to say the food is "okay but good for what you expect" right? Except that it was actually decent. 10 games of bowling and 5 shoe rentals and dinner for the family was 100 bucks. Not a bad night out. Yes, we have to drive farther but you travel when it's worth it. We will be back. Thank you for a...
Read moreMy girlfriend and I went today to go bowling due to other bowling allies being full. The women that helped us get our lane seemed like she didn't care that we wanted to bowl, and had her phone out during the transaction, pointed out by my girlfriend, the shoes I got were also very creased and not taken care of at all and looked over used, I wore and 8 1/2 mens. Besides that, the environment is very welcoming and the people there are super nice, and the people who run "Brads pro shop" are very helpful and seem dedicated to making sure the customer has a good experience bowling and finding what works well for them .
Another thing I want to point out, is that the lanes didn't seem very well oiled, I'm more used to the ball returning after rolling it to be covered in oil, or have some semblance of oil on the balls, so I think that the oil needs to be kept up with since they're 70 lanes to manage and take care of. Most of the bowling balls I saw were very beat up and over used as well making it hard for me to decide what to use and bowl with, so in my opinion I think there needs to be an order of new house balls so people don't have to worry about the potential for the balls to break one day while bowling.
Overall though, it was a great time bowling and I'll be returning to bowl more once I get into a league and...
Read moreMy husband and I have been coming here each week with our friends Since the first of the year. All visits prior have been decent minus the under staffed facility first thing Sunday mornings. This week we were set to Lane 51 which we quickly realized was under a leaking spot on the ceiling. A member in our group let the young woman at the counter know about the issue and she responded with her needing permission to move us lanes... but she would send someone over with a bucket. We tried our best to ignore it, but when it’s dripping into your beer and on your clothes it rather hard.
I then decided I would go back up to the young woman to try again to get our lane moved. She seemed to have an attitude about the situation saying that she would have to ask her manager- even though that’s what she had said over ten minutes prior. He was apparently prepping pizzas for a large party.
I understand things get busy but she absolutely needs some help up there because she just does not show initiative to help customers. To expect one person to help hundreds of people is ridiculous and I am ashamed of the owners to expect her to do it all. If funding are the issue then they can hire a high school student part time for minimum wage.
Figure it out...
