When my husband and I first moved to SB we were thrilled to come across the support and kindness from this center, but so much has changed in one year. After visiting their food pantry two times over the past year, we have been denied access since January. We have asked why this could be, they keep saying that it just hasn't been restocked and won't answer any further questions. I recently requested their help on getting financial aid to pay some bills in the house, after talking with a very rude staff member through the phone who poorly explained the application process, she ended up telling me "Lady, if you don't understand, I won't explain things to you" I ended up having to talk to someone else to start the application. Long story short, they've lost personal documents that I've given them, they ask me to restart the process every month, I have not received help AT ALL from these people. I know la casa since the late 90s and back then they helped the immigrants more than now. What’s the point of you guys moving to a bigger building if there is nothing to help the immigrant community!
