Northgate González Market — Local services in South Gate

Northgate is a good ethnic Mexican Market but is seriously lacking in other products. I wanted Sauerkraut for Hot Dogs for Independence Day but no crisp cold product. Searched the whole market by wheelchair. asked three or four employees. No one could help me. Finally found a can. They need to take into consideration people do eat a variety of other foods. Store also needs to update their customer service for the disabled and elderly. On my fourth or fifth trip an employee saw me in line struggling and dropping my groceries. Customers must stand in a single line that always goes across the full length of the store. The chain was too close and my wheelchair didn't fit and I was running into everything and my groceries fell all over the floor. This day a kind employee pulled me out of the line and helped me check out at the self check out. Employees are kind and accommodating. If they don't have English skills, they will go find help. (Wheelchairs normally don't work at self check outs). So if you can find help you are ok with getting minimal products to survive. Great grab and go foods. Nice meats. Very good selection of produce. Nice salads. Fantastic salsas, guacamoles, tamales cold cut fresh fruits, individual cakes. rice pudding etc. Full selection of dried spices, and chilies. Nice market for Hispanic household's but many American products won't be found. No cards or ribbon. Flowers ok but very limited. Almost no plants. I found one boy mylar balloon but none for a female. May go back today but may have to go to Rite Aid for another Balloon and...

To the owner, you have plenty of people here in the morning standing around the check stands doing nothing. With a line of people waiting to be checked out with more than 30 items in each cart. The wait today at 7:45 was ridiculous the ladies see that we are having a difficult time and they stand there talking to one another and seemed bothered when you requested there help. After all self check out stands were stuck one of the ladies finally decided to open up.. it's frustrating that your cashiers are unable to offer simple service knowing that the majority of customers shopping at that time are elderly folks who in fact have difficulties using the self check out machine. Even after an elderly lady asking the cashier to ring her up at a check stand your cashier stated "sorry we are unable to cooperate is having us implement this service on all customers.* another thing fix your self check out machines the machine kept asking for cashier code and wouldn't let me scan my products which made it even more...

Been looking forward to the opening of this market since there wasn’t a market for a quite some time at that location. Anyhow the market inside and out look amazing. Well stocked with necessary groceries even though they could be pricy. The customer service from the employees working there is not so great! I asked an employee where was an item and her response was “I don’t know where the items are at” …. Wow I should of not asked? I guess! Also, the cashiers are not nice at all! They look bothered being there! Supposedly Thursday through Sunday they should be giving away scratching cards that they advertised on the sales ad but if you don’t ask for it they won’t give it to you! It’s ridiculous! But I see the cashier were I paid giving them out to I’m guessing who ever they want? Really bad customer service and their attitude showing like they don’t want to be there. I don’t think I’ll be returning to that...
