07/16/2024 Booked the 21' Bowrider Cruiser (Up To 6 People): 1x Black Bayliner - 4 Hour Rental. An unfortunate one in a million event occurred for me and my family, half of them got really sick the night before and due to policy I couldn't get a reschedule or partial refund. Which I understand is in place for its reasons. Not a knock on them, but a bit of advice that's beneficial. They do specify in their emails their refund cancelation policy. Don't let my rare experience sway you.
I was able to convince the family to go, though we missed out on 2 hours we were able to go out on the water together for 2 hours. The time the charter gave was a gracious amount and Savanah was great in her assistance and help. Captain JB was great too! He was considerate of our situation, was patient, informative, and professional. He made a quick turn around at Emerald Bay because the sickys had to use the restroom. He did his absolute best to utilize the time we had left and I greatly appreciate all the efforts everyone at Discover Tahoe Charter made.
After researching in what charter to choose. This one was the best option for me and my family. Captain, life vests, watersports, cruising, and swimming all covered. The customization is a huge benefit. If you want to try to do it all than you have to get at least 4 hours. 2 hours will get you a fun cruise Or watersports but not both. Just gotta wear your suit, bring towels, drinks and food. Gas will be charged separately after the occasion ($50 an hour), if you didn't add tip in the purchase than bring cash to give tip in person.
Judging by the other reviews it seems like you can't go wrong with any Captain, and that alone will make or ruin your time one the water. This place is worth it and as long as it offers the same things, gives the best service, than it will be the best option out there. I highly recommend and if able will do again.
Thank you for your commitment...
Read moreOverall great experience. We had eight guys for a bachelor party. We arrived 5 to 10 minutes before our reservation time. I would definitely recommend showing up at least 15 to 20 minutes earlier, on busy days parking is very busy and it can be a long walk to the dock. Receptionist at the front desk was very helpful and very nice to get us on the water to have fun. The boat was very clean and ready to go at the dock. Our biggest complaint was that our captain wasn’t very outgoing or helpful for most of the trip. It’s sort of felt like it was a chore for him to take us out on the lake. While the weather was perfect the lake was a little rough wave wise and our captain constantly reminded us that “this is not the day to wake surf” as this was the only day that we are going to be on the lake. He wasn’t very open to any suggestions and wasn’t helpful when it came to some of the guys that had never wake surfed before. He complained about some of the guys that weren’t able to get up fast enough on the board and it just kind of made things awkward. He didn’t have to bow down to us but just wasn’t outgoing or helpful much. He only played his music on the boat and just wasn’t very open to anyone else playing music. Overall it was a lot of fun but it’s just really important to get a good captain. They did give us the option to choose our captain but we really didn’t know...
Read moreThis was a pathetically sad experience and would never recommend this company. I scheduled this trip through a third party, Viator (unbeknownst to me).Arrived at the address I was given only to find there were many businesses at this marina then hopelessly ran around the marina attempting to find the correct business. Days before our scheduled tour I had sent several messages to the business but my messages never received responses. Had wanted to cancel the trip because of rain but I was told rain was not a reason for a refund. It was raining when our group of ten set off for Emerald Bay on a pontoon (We were one of two boats on the water). It continued to rain for the remainder of the trip. Being a pontoon there was not enough covering for all of our party. Some of us became drenched and all of us were very cold. The driver, Rob, a recent transplant from Florida seemed sleepy and tired and was less than enthusiastic about going out in the rain. He knew little about Lake Tahoe yet didn't mind sharing how cold he was and hoping he wouldn't get sick. After walking around Emerald Bay we returned to the marina, we had enough of a menacing time at an expensive price. A word to the wise; do not waste your...
