The course is nice but the people who run it are completely obnoxious. My first experience was with a 4 some and we had an 8am T-time on Sat morning. After paying our $70 a piece we were told that there was a 30 min delay because of frost.(no biggie) So that put the course behind schedule for the day. The starter followed us for the first 6 holes telling us to speed up but we could not because there were people in front of us. He literally sat in a golf cart and stared at us the whole time and would make snide comments. This guy ruined our outing because he would not leave us alone. He should be relieved of his position. It was total harassment.
My second time playing here we came for the twilight special after work. We started around 4pm and were able to get 12 holes in before sundown. The problem is the pro shop shut the carts off on us while we were in the middle of play. We were completely stranded. We had to call back to the pro shop and have them turn them back on so we could come back to the club house.
Strike three was my friend had stopped and pick up a 4 pack of beer before we started our round and it was sitting next to his golf bag. Someone from Isleta saw it and went nuts telling him he was going to fine him $500 for having beer. They confiscated the beer and refused to give it back. They had another guy follow us to the first hole to make sure we didn't have any more.. after we paid $22 for a six-pack. Are you supposed to bring your own beer on the course ? No but The management could have handled this much better. I am new to this area and this course and I didn't even have the beer but they talked to me like I was a child . Totally obnoxious .. will...
Read moreGood course layout, pleasant scenery, and fun to play when course is in good shape; however, they should not be charging premium pricing for the current conditions. I played there on Sunday 8/17/2025 and here are the things that I think should be improved before charging a premium: You're not allowed to practice on the driving range until 30 minutes before your tee time. The other premium courses in town do not have a time limit that I am aware of. The putting green has been closed for several months so everyone is trying to practice chipping and putting on the chipping green. About 30-40% of Lakes/Arroyo is very wet and soggy. I expect some moisture in the morning that should dry up by mid-morning on most courses. We tee 'ed off at 8:40 and ran into balls that plugged in the middle of the fairway, standing water in the middle of the fairway, and my shoes and socks were wet at the end of the round. The last hole #9 Arroyo was the only dry hole that I can remember. #9 green on Lakes and #4 green on Arroyo have dead sand/mud areas on them. White tee box on #8 Arroyo is the definition of poor course management. The entire tee box is dirt, sand, and a few weeds. I'm not sure why they would put the tee markers there. They should either put the white markers at the back of the gold tee box or the front of the teal tee box which are both in good condition. Put sod in or just let the grass grow back on the white tee box instead of letting people walk all over it. I told my friends who are members at Isleta that I will not be joining them to play there again until conditions improve...
Read moreThis has got to be the worse golf course I have played in Albuquerque. The staff is very bad. They could care less that I was out there to play. On the weekend no senior rate. Cost the same whether I was walking or riding. The greens were like putting on the fairways. They were very slow and probably would not hold a bowling ball dropped at 100ft. There were tee boxes that were no better than my front yard and my front yard does not have any grass since I live in the desert. They where watering the course in the middle of the day so we had to dodge the sprinklers and where they had them off there was water that was going over your golf shoes. They must get their water free because they were watering the heck out of the course.
After we got done we went into the bar area to get a beer. The bar was closed and the person at the snack bar was either asleep or was doing some heavy thinking. It appeared that we are not the only people that feel this way about the course because this was on a Sunday at 9am in the morning which seems to be their busy time according to Google, and the parking lot was maybe 20% full.
So if you are looking for a place to play golf look somewhere else. I would not even go out there if they gave me a...
