Northwest Mississippi Community College - Desoto Center — Local services in Southaven

If you're going to go to this school at least try not to go to the Senatobia campus. The staff from the bookstore, registrars office, financial aid, and just about every department are all very ill-mannered. The personnel up there are extremely dismissive and they treat you as if you don't have the right to ask for help or assistance. The student aid and local neighborhood adults that work at the bookstore are always joking, laughing, making fun of the students, and making smart remarks towards students. There is one fat sissy up there name terry blend and one lady up there, can't remember her name, that are extremely rude and I do mean rude. They work in the financial aid department. They basically need a vacation. I mean this is overall a true southern racial school that celebrates Robert E. Lee Day same day as Martin Luther King Day on their schools calendar just to be disrespectful. Robert E. Lee was head leader of the CONFEDERATES which were God's most hateful people in the world who wanted to continue to have black people as slaves. Don't expect professional help at the registrar's office there is this one little black girl they does not know how to properly communicate what she's doing to assist you. She just gets you information and go to the back and then comes back to the front, without saying a word back to you about actions being done to help you, and get on facebook. So if you are an adult you might get better help but if you look like a young person don't expect professional, polite and composed help. And just like the other person said expect to be ticketed for everything, like being parked in the wrong spot or not having a decal, having the decal in the wrong place, I mean...

This school is horrible and they are thieves!! I used financial aid they put your money from financial aid on a card that you use in the bookstore for books my advisor did not make me aware that I was short half a credit to be considered full time I had my usual four classes like I always have every semester except for this time my lab was 3.5 instead of 4 so when it was time for the school to cut me a check from my balance left on the card it was$21 dollars I called and asked what happened to my money which was suppose to be $700 some dollars they said I was at 13.5 hoursI had to have 14 hours to be full time (the amount of hours I quoted may be wrong but you get the idea) and financial aid felt as though I didn’t need the rest of that money I called financial aid they said once that money is granted it is mine and they don’t come back and take money back so that means the school pocketed the money I stop going there...

I went into northwest community college on January 7, 2019 looking to get an in depth understanding & help for attendance at the DeSoto location. Sad to say this was not the first time I have experienced a very unhelpful and unwelcoming attitude from the staff in the admissions office/ counseling office. They did not make you feel welcome or free to ask questions or give any helpful advice. The secretary at the desk acted as if I was getting on her nerves and was incompetent for asking her questions. Then when it was time for me to leave she said "you can go" okay I can go where??? All in all I would not recommend this college to anyone my experience was not good on multiple separate visits.
