Casa Mexicana — Restaurant in Southaven

I visited today, Thursday, August 7, 2025, between 6:45 and 7:00 PM. I dine at this establishment quite often, and my usual order is the shrimp quesadilla. Lately, I’ve been trying the grilled shrimp listed under “Seafood Plates” on the menu. However, every time I order it, I’m given only a side of grilled shrimp in a foam cup instead of the full grilled shrimp dinner.

The manager who is often there and has been rude in past visits told me I need to say “shrimp dinner” when ordering. Understood. But today, I forgot to phrase it that way because I placed a call-in order while driving. After realizing my order was incorrect, I showed the manager the menu and explained that it might need to be updated (since no one would assume they have to say “grilled shrimp dinner” when it clearly just says “grilled shrimp”), he was more focused on proving me wrong than listening.

I also pointed out that there is no “side of grilled shrimp” listed under the sides section, so it doesn’t make sense to assume I meant a side when ordering “grilled shrimp.” Grilled shrimp is ONLY listed under the Seafood Plates section on the menu. Nowhere else on the menu! This confusion could be easily avoided if staff simply confirmed orders by asking, “Would you like the dinner or just a side of grilled shrimp?”

I travel from Memphis to eat here, and I’ve had to bring my food back before because of this same mistake. Instead of hearing my feedback, the manager laughed in my face. This showed a lack of professionalism, customer service, and basic courtesy. The issue could be resolved with clear communication and a simple menu clarification, but the unwillingness to listen makes the experience frustrating and disappointing.

Best salsa within 40 miles. Best salsa and fajita bowls in the entire area. My family and I don’t go anywhere else now. Their vegetarian menu is superb and they actually have potato taquitos!!!!! I read a few other reviews and saw one saying they did not tip and of course that review had many things to complain about. If people don’t want to tip they should cook their own dinner and prepare their own drinks. My family and I have come here for over two years and we are always increasingly surprised at the quality. The food and drinks just get better and better. Some people simply have no taste and act as though they have never eaten out (coming from a waitress herself, me) my fam and I are always satisfied and the only issue we have had is cold chips and they have brought us fresh ones each time we had that issue. Anyone who complains about this place has clearly 1) never eaten out and 2) never worked in restaurants and 3) probably is looking for a discount. Us servers know. What a waste of time! Do NOT order online here! I showed up 40 minutes later to pick up my food. And they can't tell me anything. Finally, they are trying to blame their computer for not being able to see my order, while not caring enough to do anything about it. Then they try to blame the third party that supposedly handles the ordering on THEIR OWN website! And the guy says if they don't call him on the phone after placing the online order, then they don't take the order. So if you're hungry, then ordered online on their own website and wait as instructed and then show up to get it, you will basically be treated like an idiot. Oh well. They could care less. Ok, lots of other dining choices around! I actually thought this was a bit harsh but at no time did they apologize, ask if they can take a fresh order, offer to expedite it or a discount. Not even asking if they should proceed with the order. Absolutely nothing. I had to ask to place a new order and then wait for it. Nearly an hour and a half after ordering, I finally got it. My dish was missing the tortillas it was supposed to come with.
