Spearfish canyon is one of my favorite places. I drive through atleast once if not a few times a week. I've done numerous hikes through this specific canyon and I can say you will never be disappointed. Talk about sensory over load. Don't forget your camera, some good shoes (if you decide to hike) and clearing your schedule because you're going to want more than an afternoon here. Most of the canyon doesn't have service, there is a lot of traffic during busy summer afternoons and you will probably run into some people along the way, but these are all manageable. Make sure to keep your eyes open to the cliffs and rock formations to see some waterfalls, caves, and climbers. There is minimal garbage and designated parking spots. Please keep our forest and facilities clean and be aware of your surroundings, so we can all enjoy this for years...

The paths and strategically placed picnic tables, benches and overlook decks are phenomenal...truly. Do take the time to visit each location...Bridal Veil, Roughlock and Spearfish Falls. We found wild raspberries, and wild roses. The streams are crystal clear and great photo opp places. I have been to this place two twice and once visited this place in September and believe me it looks like a paradise on the earth. It’s one of the most beautiful places and one of the most beautiful drives i have seen so far. The driving experience through the spearfish canyon and the water falls along the way will definitely make your mood and the whole trip worth making.
