We absolutely loved it here. It was the highlight of our trip to the Black Hills. First of all, it is beautiful and peaceful. Secondly, the history of it is very interesting to learn. Third, my kids love feeding the fish and ducks. They could probably do it all day. Finally, it is free to go! There are cheap bags of fish food to buy, trails to hike, a gift shop, bathrooms, museum, a replica fish train car, and plenty of benches and ponds to sit and watch and/or feed the fish. You can spend either $1 or $5 to feed the fish, oftentimes there are also ducks and geese to feed too. We've been in summer and fall/winter and I do prefer going during the summer months more often.
