Every day a small piece of my soul dies. I've been dragged so far away from who I originally was I don't even recognize myself anymore. I don't take pleasure in anything I partake in, I don't find comfort in the touch of a loved one.
If I decided to not show up one day, nothing would change, others wouldn't really notice and the world wouldn't change at all. I just wouldn't be there. I'd get asked why I wasn't there, but overall it wouldn't have mattered.
They act like everyone has a place and everyone serves a purpose, but really, only a select few do. The working force, the "glue" doesn't get noticed, they are the unseen bond that nobody really wants to see.
The only thing that matters are the students coming in and the image that is presented to them and that they present. The underbelly gets ignored and is nonverbally pushed aside with hopes that it will just go away. Happy faces bring in money, so only happy faces get attention.
The fact that everyone believes nothing bad happens or that there isn't corruption (which I know exists everywhere) is the most sickening. It's not that fact that it happens; it's the fact that people go out of their way to make sure it never gets noticed, instead of trying to make a difference and fix the issues.
So come on by see the happy people, say hello experience the joy and love in campus, just know that it's all a front and what you see isn't really what...
Read moreWhat a beautiful campus! We took a tour as it was a possible place for our daughter to go to school, and we all loved the place. There's a definite homey atmosphere here and everyone was genuinely friendly and helpful. What we learned about the school, especially when compared to nearby Gonzaga, resulted in my daughter enrolling at Whitworth. The campus is small but roomy, not cramped at all, and it's gorgeous...they really take great care of the grounds. The buildings are all very well kept and comfortable, especially the dorms. The recreation building is especially nice, too. We ate in the common dining hall and the food was very good, as was the selection.
As a non-rightwing Christian, I can't stress enough how good Whitworth is. It seems very accepting of everyone, every faith, yet they seem to have a strong sense of their own faith and purpose, and we get the feeling that our daughter will have an excellent 4 years at Whitworth.
Also, for prospective students, I suggest doing well in high school to take advantage of the many opportunities at Whitworth. And, speaking as a parent who'll be paying the bills, Whitworth does a superb job in helping with financial aid, especially grants and discounts. We earn too much to get any financial aid, but Whitworth offers more discounts than any other dozen+ schools we looked at, even my own alma mater, Seattle...
Read moreAs an LGBTQ non Christian I can attest that the person below me does not see that people can have different experiences. So far during my first month here I'm already an outcast, my mental is drained to the point I'm thinking just giving up because of this damn school and even if I was having a good time I am so limited here. They have so little degrees, degrees I could want are continuing studies only-- classes are full so people I know can't even get into classes needed for their major and in my own case I can't get any classes that might be beneficial to me. Anthropology in a Christian school? What's that? You have to go to Hawaii to take it? Honestly do what you want but I wouldn't touch this school with a 100ft pole as so far it is the worst education I've ever received and I've been to American...
