I was coming to town for a week visiting my kids who live in Las Vegas and they had told me about the coin shop that they took my grand kids to for a coin collecting for kids event so I decided to bring a canister of coins that I have had put away for years with me. My daughter in law took me to the store and when we walked in I was shocked at the cleanliness of the store as well as the instant greeting. I was asked by a older gentlemen if I was looking to buy or sell and I told him I was not sure but I had some coins to find out the value of. He then directed me to the separate booths they have for buying, after they looked at my coins I found out that a majority of my coins were only worth silver but I had one Morgan Dollar that according to Jason (the guy I worked with) would be best if I sent off to be certified due to the value of it in mint state. He offered to send it off and make an offer when the coin came back and they would cover the grading cost, or I could send it off and just pay the grading fees when it came back. Well, I ended up sending it in and it came back MS64. My coin was an 1880 CC that I had been given by my father when I was young and I thought it might have been worth about $100... I ended up getting paid over $600 for the coin.
Needless to say, even though I live in California, I will always bring my coins with me when I come to visit my kids and go to Sahara Coins to sell. I can't comment on buying since I have not purchased from there as of yet but I hope the...
Read moreI purchased 3 Silver Eagle MS-70 PCGS Mercanti First Strike in an 2013, 2014 & 2015. The eBay auction did not meet their expectations, so I was sent 3 coins with different cert numbers. All 3 now have serious issues and do not even meet ms-68. I spent well over $400 in an auction and I will be lucky to recoup $150... I would give them 0 stars if that were possible, they are a definition of a coin mill. Although, they may not meet the inventory to fit the exact definition of a coin mill but they bait and switch when their price isn't met... They trade out their problematic coins when an auction goes a bit lower. It's pathetic and in a hobby where people spend a lot of money to build a collection, they only care about their bottom line. I trusted and did not look at the coins under a microscope to evaluate long term condition. If you buy, look at every coin under a microscope - loupe will not do... If you don't own the equipment, avoid at all costs. Out of 100+ dealers/sellers, I've purchased from this is only my 2nd negative...
Read moreStarted off going to Sahara Coins with my 10 year old son, looking to get a little info on numismatic coins, bullion, etc., but not sure what to expect. Often times at stores like these you're pressured, feel rushed, and belittled if you don't know the industry "jargon"....but not at Sahara Coins!
The folks that greeted us were extremely friendly, helpful, and jovial to both my son and I. After spending about 35 minutes talking about different options, different coins, and ways for us to begin a collection that fit our needs, I was overcome by how willing they were to go into such depth for a customer, who admittedly was only looking to spend a little money at the time.
That I've been back to Sahara Coins every other week for the past year, with my son in tow, I can say without question that Sahara Coins is the ONLY place I will ever shop for Gold, Silver, and Collectable Coins...
