I am SO dissapointed! I've been telling my husband I want to try this place, my friend has enjoyed brunch here and I love supporting Black owned businesses and actually first heard about you in the Black Business Facebook group. So, he surprised me today and made a 7pm reservation. We arrived on time and was seated after the couple in front of us. The table we chose was wobbly but my hubby fixed it with a napkin under the short leg. We ordered the little BBQ drumsticks which were good and ice water (took a while), service so far was okay but honestly I (sadly) didn't go in expecting spectacular service, just great food. For dinner, we ordered the Cat fish soul bowl and the Ultimate soul bowl + cat fish. My husband immediately asked if there was any sauce on the food, the waitress said yes, hot sauce (the menu didn't mention sauce, it did mention once food is ready it has to be paid for). My husband is very particular about this for health and taste reasons so we wanted to be sure there were no mistakes. He told her to not put any sauce on his food twice and she responded "I gotchoo!" Our food came out around 7:45pm or just after. We immediately see hot sauce on his food and remind her that he said no hot sauce. She acknowledges this and implies the kitchen messed up. We tell her that he doesn't do hot sauce at all (mind you it's drizzled over all the food even on my corn bread). She repeatedly insisted for him to try it anyway because it's "not that hot", not even knowing why he didn't want any sauce to begin with. We were politely telling her, he doesn't do hot sauce or sauces, she continued to insist saying the fryers are off now and she can't take it back. After 3 times of trying to force my husband to eat something he didnt order, he tasted a tiny bit and said no. I asked the waitress if he could choose another protein at least, she said no the kitchen is closed. Before that, the fryers were off. She insisted the kitchen would not accommodate their mistake and there were ZERO attempts made to even try to make my husband's meal right or empathy shown. TERRIBLE! I have never experienced anything like this in my life. Granted they probably closed at 8pm but it wasn't 8pm yet, we had reservations, and they got his order wrong and refused to make it right because "the fryers are off" "it's not that hot" "they won't take it back" and "the kitchen is closed". Like C'mon! She did say sorry but after all of that, it felt less then genuine. She offered him NOTHING! Took his plate and left us there on our date night with 1 meal, empty water cups, and a ruined date night. At this point I'm so upset and asked for to go boxes and a water refill to go because I can't even enjoy my food after all of that and my man is hungry still. No one from the kitchen came out, no manager, no owner, no chef, nobody, no discount (I even forgot to ask if they offered Military Vet discounts), no dessert, no sprite, no offer for something else, no nothing! Just wow! She brought our tab over with my meal and our appetizers charges only and we paid cash and left. I couldn't wait to get out of there. This was so wrong on so many levels. So many other ways to handle this. Closing the kitchen without warning to your guest and before closing and making sure the meals are right is a great start. If this were a chain restaurant, I probably would've returned my meal, paid for our appetizer only and moved on for the evening and ate with my huaband somewhere else. But I wanted to wholeheartedly support yall still, but we deserved better tonight and Im not going to sugarcoat a bad experience just to be supportive because that doesn't help you or your staff. Honestly, even with the mistake (because they happen), I would've loved to give yall a rave review on how in spite of your mistake you guys made it right. You did nothing to make it right and that's why you earned this review tonight. My husband is a 2nd generation native of Las Vegas and we have family and friends that visit here often, I hoped I would be able to add you to our...
Read moreI’m absolutely disgusted, disappointed, and appalled at my experience with this place. I take pride in supporting black owned businesses and it’s truly sad when it’s not up to par. When we first arrived no one greeted us despite the restaurant being empty. There were employees gathered around the bar area talking amongst themselves when we entered and also the entire time we were there. We sat down and were presented with menus, we ordered water and it took 20 minutes for them to bring the water out, at that point we were ready to order. Once again the only patrons in the restaurant were me and my guest and eventually one man came in to sit down. There were 4 people including myself at the table, after 30 min my food and another person’s food came out we both ordered the shrimp and grits plus a soul roll and a side of Mac n cheese. After about 15 min the waitress comes to the table and says to the other person at the table it’s going to be another 15 minutes for your food. Which is very unprofessional to bring half the tables order and allow the rest of our group with no food waiting. Please keep in mind there was never any heads up when we ordered that it would take an hour to prepare the meal. The meal was the smothered chicken. After 15 min the third meal came which was the chicken and waffle. While we’re eating someone at my table is drinking their water and discovers a piece of GLASS that she sipped through the straw and thank god caught it before she swallowed it. We tell the waitress she says “oh wow, Sorry” stares at the piece of glass and says I’ll bring you another water. Meanwhile we’re still waiting for the last meal to arrive. We ask for an update and the waitress says they are putting the gravy on. It took another 15 minutes after that before this smothered chicken meal to come, at this point everyone has finished their meal. While the person who got their food last is trying to rush and eat because we were running late for an appointment, I request to speak with a supervisor. It turns out the employees that were gathered around talking the whole time, one of them was the “owner” and that’s who came to speak with me. I’m expressing to her my experience and she appeared to be very dismissive, disinterested, rude, and argumentative with MY experience in her restaurant. Mind you when we mentioned the glass she was surprised which tells you the waitress didn’t mention it to the “owner”. Someone else at the table expresses their concerns and the “owner” then says, “Well what do you want me to do?” I suggest a comp or at least a discount. She says, “I’m not comping you but I can take a few dollars off”, then walks off. She took 5 dollars off. I’m not sure how long this place has been open but it definitely seemed to be fairly new and I would think the goal would be to bring in people to eat your food, feel welcomed, WANT to spend their money which helps your business be successful, and MOST importantly feel SAFE when consuming your beverages!! I don’t like to go somewhere with my hard earned money and feel like I’m not valued or appreciated for being there or someone’s life being at risk due to RECKLESSNESS. In conclusion, I would NEVER go there again and I will tell everyone I know and the ones I don’t to NEVER go here!!! I hope the “owner” takes this feedback serious because as black people we need to change the narrative that people like to say about black owned businesses. Please do better in...
Read moreAs a black man, I must say I’m not the first to jump and try BO establishments as it’s always a huge disappointment in my experiences. Ppl ran to this place because of Keith Lee, which btw I’m not an influencer nor a follower of any, but my companion wanted to try it because of the buzz he created for this place. Must say I wasn’t surprised at all, as it was the typical BO restaurant… but I must say the server was nice and he did the best he could with just himself and ONE COOK! Some other girl came out from the back but didn’t seem to be helping in any way, don’t even know why she was there. But it was extremely short staffed, very long wait times and ok food. When I dine out, I only ask for good service, moderate prices and great food but can NEVER get all 3 at one of these. We waited 20 mins for drinks, mind you the place was not packed. I ordered a sweet tea, and I’m from the South, this was syrupy brown water. No tea flavor (wasn’t brewed) and tons of sugar (liquid diabetes in a cup), one sip and was done with it. We both ordered catfish and grits, which grits should already be done, but it took 40-45 mins to get our simple dishes. While waiting for our food, NUMEROUS ppl came in and walked out after waiting too long, including a large 5 top table. Just money walking out the door left and right. The food was cool, except the grits were darn near mashed potatoes and the fish was good, a little too hard but not terrible. One couple who came about 30 mins after us were very frustrated with the wait and just wanted to pay for their drinks, server tried to make them wait for their meals as he said it was being prepared and can’t be stopped. The guy wasn’t having it and I honestly don’t blame him, he was being nice to even pay for the drinks, I would’ve walked out as soon as I was being charged for a meal I still have yet to receive after waiting 30 mins and it’s no where near ready.
Personally, I dont think this owner is in the business to make money. Apparently the restaurant is closed today, 5/4/24, because she will be at the Lovers & Friends concert Saturday (a major business booming day, especially in Vegas with travelers coming in and out). Smh, ppl need to stop trying to be business owners minus the decorum and professionalism. So unprofessional and a little ghetto to miss out on lots of $$$$ and close your restaurant on a Saturday. Everybody is not meant to be business owners and it’s no wonder 50% or more of BO establishments failing within one year of business because of ish like this. Also ppl should stop trying to listen to internet influencers for opinions on places and just go try it themselves. Influencers may have had a good experience because of who they are and that’s a not a representation of what normal patrons receive. I wouldn’t be surprised if this place was closed by this time next year. Owner clearly doesn’t hire adequate staffing, clearly doesn’t care how the business runs and closed random days of the week. SAVE YOUR TIME if u have plans for other events in Vegas and go elsewhere, you will not be here in an hour or less and get the experience you’re hoping for. Will NOT be returning...
