Anytime Fitness — Local services in Springfield

I did enjoy this gym while attending it. The reason for the one star rating is the Management of the accounts. This is not the cheapest gym by far but I was ok with that. I signed up for a year contract. Which ended in June. So I didn't attend anymore. But they kept charging me a monthly fee. I recently changed jobs and by the time I get back in town they are never there in the office. I stopped in on the morning 1st of October to inquire about my account and why I was still being charged. They looked me up on their computer and said your contract was over in June. Ok, I fulfilled my obligation on my contract why am I being charged still? Their reply is that the billing renewed me and that is why. I didn't want renewed. I never got a email, text or a phone call to verify that I was completed with my contract and a renewal would happen. So I filled out a the customer change form to end my service. They just charged me Friday Sept, 28 2018 about $38.00. He tells me that they will charge me $38.00 again this month at the end of the month because today is the 1st. Are you kidding me im paying for a month im not even using? Such B.S!! I get home later that day. I see I have another charge on my account. They hit me for $29.95 for a equipment fee for next year. Come on people, Really. What kind of business is this? I stopped in again yesterday morning. Talked to a trainer no one else was yet in. He took my information and said he would have a manager call me today. Guess what? That phone call never happened. Two days later still haven't heard anything. Bad business practice here. Save money and go to Planet Fitness. When I left there to join here for convenience of location I didn't get this with Planet Fitness. I am still waiting for the phone call from them. For me I am upset that I just paid $38 on Friday, Then Monday the day I cancel they Charge me $29.95 for next years equipment fee. Then they want to charge me again $38 at the end of the month for a month im not using....

I don’t recommend this gym because they are all bout taking your money. I ended up getting a membership back in march of 2021 the guy Dwight told me I can stop I can stop my membership once I move. So I called back maybe two months ago wanting to start my membership because I moved to a different location that was 45 minutes away from the Springfield area that did not have a Anytime fitness At my new location. So when I try to stop my membership they told me there was nothing that they can do or it will go on my credit report for nonpayment. So basically I have been paying a whole year on a membership with me being in a different location and not know anytime fitness around. I called to try to cancel my payment because my year has been up now as of April 1, 2022 they basically told me No I have to come in and cancel the membership. April 1 was a Friday they took off $32 then the next day on 2 April they took out another $23. So now I have to wait until Monday to even talk to anyone to see if they can reimburse me for my money. They are really about taking peoples money and not helping them, they are liars, every time I talk to someone they rules will change. YouTube is more professional than the people in at this location just stick with the basics. They will tell you anything just so they can get your account and take out money each month or biweekly. They will lie to get you to join the membership. I joined for the summer program around March of 2021 and was a very active member. Dwight and Jerry trained me and they loved how I worked and they liked me as a person as so I did them. They’re great trainers but this situation blew it for me. So after my summer program was finished they wanted me to join the membership.I didn’t know if I wanted to because money problems and I was getting ready to leave to go to college in august. Also I am a collegiate athlete working on getting to a division 1 school but they told me while me and my mother was there that they would but s hold on my membership until I come back from college. So I said let’s do it. I’ve been in college for 3 months now and I got a call saying I owe them about 1000 dollars because I haven’t paid but it didn’t make sense because while I was there I paid ever week on time. I called Jerry about it and now I was told I only had a 90 day hold on my account and I’m in a tight situation right now because I’m a young college student and financially I can’t do that.
