Grassy Creek Hardware — Local services in Spruce Pine

I’ll begin by saying that I enjoy good old fashioned hardware stores like this one. The people, products, and smells are intoxicating.

Visiting the area and needing a piece of equipment I stopped into Grassy Creek Hardware yesterday. The store is chock full of just everything and seems well staffed. But that staff seemed more interested in talking politics than assisting their customers. I was in the store for about 15 minutes and heard lots of chatter about “Hunter Biden” and “JD Vance” and other non-hardware topics. Maybe they were still celebrating the election?

Meanwhile not one person greeted me with a “Good Morning” or asked if I needed assistance.

I left the store empty handed and wound up spending my money elsewhere.

I would never recommend anyone not shopping at Grassy Creek Hardware. It’s a great store. But my experience yesterday was disappointing.

This is a great hardware store. It’s an old school hardware that has just about anything you need for repairs or yard and the service is amazing. I've always had a good experience here. But let me tell u, today I needed a bale a straw, I called right at 4:58 they actually waited on us to get there for a simple $9 sale. That's what I call amazing. I will be bringing my business here for now on. That kind gesture and act of kindness really meant a lot. I know it may sound silly to some, but it's a big deal to me.
