StreetStyle — Local services in St. Charles

Let me start by saying - I have not used StreetStyle yet for any work -YET. The reason for my 5-star review is based on how helpful and friendly Paul was on the phone. I am having a problem with the stereo in my boat. I believe it is a simple problem to fix... but I have not had any luck myself. Anyone with a boat knows how much of a pain it can be to have it worked on. It is not as simple as dropping a car off. For example, when having a boat worked on you have to travel to the boat, hook up the trailer, tow it to the shop (with god awful fuel mpg), drop it off, take off the cover, and only then can someone look at the project at hand. Then repeat that process all over again just to bring the boat back to storage each time. Most shops I talked to said, "well without seeing the boat I can't really answer any questions". I understand this perspective. However, having someone who is willing to ask a few questions to learn more and answer what they can over the phone ahead of time is greatly appreciated! It also builds confidence in me as a consumer to trust the person on the other end (in this case Paul).

Paul was easy to talk to, confident in his answers, and more than willing to help any way he could. He provided me a list of information I needed and was flexible working around my schedule if I wanted to bring my boat to him to look at. "Real people" are unfortunately hard to come by these days. I am excited to work with this team in the near future.

Spoke on the phone with Paul about a groupon on their remote starter kit for $249, he asked if I bought it yet, and I told him I was about to purchase it, and he said not to purchase from Groupon and that he would honor it, I also told him Groupon was offering an additional 20% off, and he said he would honor that as well, so I made an appt. I drove 45 min, and when I got there, I confirmed again with him about the extra 20%, and this time, he tells me he won’t honor it and that Groupon wasn’t supposed to give that discount. Needless to say, I did not get the remote starter because Paul did not honor his words, and that’s why the bad review. I would give zero stars if I could for businesses who do not honor their words. It’s frustrating because there were other places I could’ve gone to, but I chose this one because of the good reviews. I would not go back nor would I recommend someone who does not keep their word.

Nov 19 Response to owner: Paul, I almost appreciated your apology, but you’re lying about telling me over the phone because if you did, I would NEVER have made the drive to your shop, waste of my time, energy, and money. Groupon is bringing you business, and in turn, you’re telling customers not to purchase on Groupon. I understand you’re in the business to make money, that’s why I didn’t purchase from Groupon and figured it would save you some fees, my mistake! Paul and the crew did a phenomenal job installing aftermarket HIDs, LEDs, tail lights, a third brake light and even fashioned mounting brackets for some of the lights. They also installed a factory OEM backup camera in my 2014 Ram Truck that my dealer said couldn't be done without changing the head unit. When it comes to hard wiring anything in your vehicle you have to leave it to the professionals and there is no shop that is more professional than StreetStyle. Some of the equipment I supplied and some I purchased directly from StreetStyle. I could have saved myself a ton of time if I just bought it from them in the first place. StreetStyle has competitive pricing on everything they sell and their installation is clean, professional and simply put the best in the area. Paul and the team are friendly, well-versed in what they do and do not try to up sell you things that you don't need. They cater to the every customer - whether you a high tech modified car enthusiast looking to put in new performance products or a Mom looking for a a new radio for her minivan - StreetStyle treats you as the most important customer in the world.
