Marketplace Foods — Local services in St. Croix Falls

I pretty much quit going here. They sell 4 Bros meat which has no flavor, has lots of tough cartilage & fat that needs to be trimmed much better. I don't like spending 17.99 per lb on meat with gross fat on it. They have always been over priced. I peeked @ the roasts they were over $30.00. The sales just are not great. Too much for a roast. I would love to ship here if they would get rid of that bray. Also, I like really fresh produce. The onions are like Walmart so why spend more? I have been disappointed with the celery small & not firm also some times really dirty. I won't buy Dole @ all. Lately they have been having ocean mist I believe it's called nor too bad then @ least they clean it. The lettuce is not good like Walmart. The mushrooms are very fresh usually have browning like they are old. I am not sure why they don't have fresher quality produce. I do like their variety of pizzas & ice cream flavors. I have bought the Kemp's in the past three for $3.00 in sale. This time the sale per scround was $6.69 which is outrageous for ice cream. I like the peps draft house sausage & screaming Sicilians pizza. I like sausage & it is hard to find @ a lot of places. I wish they had all brands in sausage as I cannot eat pepperoni with getting sick from it. The bakery stinks. No real cookies. The breads & buns are very processed & not squeezable fresh & soft. I get mine @ Dicks fresh foods they have great bread & a huge variety. I also have bought street corn chips here Walmart does not carry them. I really love their fish here though. The tuna steaks & orange roughy are really good. I would try the salmon, but they are nuts on the price. I can buy a whole salmon @ Aldi for $8.99 per pound with excellent flavor & cut it up & freeze it & get a lot of meals. Marketplace foods is a phenomenal place to shop for affordable, quality food. Their facilities are always clean, the shelves always stocked and there is always a phenomenal deal to be had. What is lacking is quality customer service. Unless you get one of the older workers (who are profoundly friendly) your experience might be quite lacking. A very rude girl prompted me to write this review. I approached her with a very simple, very easy to answer question that took absolutely no time from her duty of standing there. I simply asked if my buddy was working. I approached her with a smile and a friendly attitude and I was met with a look of disgust and an eye roll and a very short response. Her look was that of a mix of disgust and annoyance (mostly disgust) and she would not look me in the eye. She gave a short snappy rely and a massive, GARGANTUAN eye roll. I can understand her disgust as I am a rather unkempt person but its a customer service job, I work one as well, sometimes you just have to pretend. If she is unable to muster up the will to provide quality customer service then maybe she should find a job working from home, maybe manufacturing or get a degree. She had a tattoo on her chest, like some sort of "star burst" type thing, like rays of the sun, if you see it interpret it as a sigil of negativity because clearly she just wants to be left to her own devices...

Get service, love your older baker lady, she is extremely accommodating, kind, and has great customer service. Nice guys in the Meat department.Howevere you have a younger gal who works in the Bakery 25 - 30's who works 1st thing in the morning, who will not come out of the Bakery area for Nothing, or will she answer you, or look at you, as story holler Excuse Me, EXCUSE ME, DO YOU HAVE ANY... NO ANSWER! No Look, and it has happened 3 times. I think she feels she has enough too do, to get the bins full, and I do understand. However, Customer Service is the Name of the game. I love your store, but if I need early donuts for something, and she is working. I turn a round, and go somewhere else. Your losing money, and sending your customers down the road. I have owned restaurants, Bars, Catering business. She probably need another person too help her, and the blame diesel not all fall on Her! Penny Wise, Pound Foolish. Otherwise, I love the store.
