I am very frustrated with Office Depot right now. Awhile back, I purchased an abundance of supplies, some of which were quite expensive. I ended up not needing so many of a few of the items, and tried to return them, or atleast get store credit for the next time I need to purchase something at your store. I was rudely refused for not having my receipt, or knowing what information was entered in for me on the day I purchased the items. I was a general manager for six years at a place that also asked for the customer's name and phone number at checkout or while taking an order. In that time I quickly realized that some customers prefer not to give that information, and since the customer is always right in customer service, it was my duty to keep that customer coming back, so I didn't force them. Even though it was our policy, there are always some exceptions when it comes down to the preference of the customer. I am also one of those customers that prefer not to give my information when it is unnecessary, so when I was asked to provide my name and phone number when paying for my purchase, I politely declined. Now, I wish I was told at that time that if I ever needed to return an item or exchange something, that I would be refused because of this. I have spent a decent amount of money at multiple locations of yours over years of being in management. I believe it is completely wrong to refuse to atleast provide me with a gift card for these items that I have no use for, just because I didn't give my information when purchasing them. I would understand if I was asking for a refund or cash for the items, but I'm not. They obviously came from your store and remain unopened and unharmed, so I deserve to be able to take them back and get store credit for whenever I please to use it. I have even sat on hold for 30 minutes, and spoke to a manager after not getting any help at the store level, and still received nothing. This is an example of poor use of judgement by management and poor customer service,...
Read moreI came into this location because I had just moved to the St.Louis area and work remotely. I had to return to work in 2 days and was having many issues finding a good office chair that was affordable.
Chris from "Tech Services" as it says on his card he gave me, was incredibly helpful. The chair I came for was recently out of stock even though the website said it was available at this location, so Chris substituted the chair for something even better for the same price.
He was extremely friendly, understanding and beyond helpful.
I was in a pinch and he truly helped me get my home-office set up for my new home. I cannot thank the guy enough, I actually bought this chair back in Jan but lost the receipt so I couldn't completed the Office Depot survey online.
I just wanted to ensure that whoever in his HR department or one of his managers read this, because he went above and beyond to help someone out who desperately needed a chair to complete his work.
Give Chris a promotion or at the very least a raise. Because of Chris, I actually bought my new office desk from Office Depot as well. That particular desk wasn't in stock at his location, but I went to on the other side of the river and bought my desk from your company there, primarily because of how excellent my interaction with Chris was.
To sum it all up, Chris is a fantastic representative of your company and has now made a loyal customer out of me.
Thanks again Chris, you are an...
Read moreI thought I needed a new PC. I bought on from Chris. He told me I needed McAfee installed which he said was free and by the way, here's your service plan for 129.99. He's a fast talker.
Had I been on MY game instead of reacting to HIS I would have said no. I didn't need the service plan. I learned that the McAfee he installed was only a one month trail run but none of this mattered because the issue wasn't a virus as General Manager Chris told me but a legit blue screen from Microsoft advising me 'third party software' had been installed on my wifi.
My tenant, who I allowed to use my wifi through a booster, has installed cameras in the apartment and it was crashing my PC. I returned the PC a few days later. I was told they 'couldn't refund the service plan at the store; even though I bought it there.
I waited a week, have called the store, and was told to wait for the refund. Today, a week later, an email arrived saying the plan had been cancelled BUT NO REFUND was included.
I called my credit card company and they plan to address this with Office Depot.
If you patronize this place be very careful of your purchases.
Danille was an honorable General Manager. This guy is right there with a used car salesman.
I see 'the owner' has responded to a few reviews Please do...
