I have known Emily since she started at J3, the home of my favorite - Judith.

Emily became my hairstylist suddenly after a break up with my former stylist from college; who was not receptive and was keeping me from entering the professional world with odd hair color and mundane styles.

When you find a person as amazing as Emily , you follow her creative mind anywhere and everywhere - to small rented spaces, The Lofts, back to J3 and now to her very own studio/lab/creative space.

That is the great thing about Emily - she comes with experience and she delivers full heart into everything she does (and everyone she mentors). She is an artist, a chemist, a teacher and possibly a psychic - I rarely tell her what to do. I may give a “what about this...” or “look at this pic...” and all of sudden, my hair and color are better than I could have ever imagined.

I am so proud of her for taking her skills to the next level and opening a place of her own, The Hair Lab. She has hand picked the best crew (Kelli, Sachie, Nina and Katie) who are each amazing and bring a unique perspective to each client’s hair. For example, today Kati helped Emily brainstorm on the gloss to place on my hair as my engagement photos are next week. My hair = perfect. I’ve been going to The Hair Lab for a few years now and have worked with multiple stylists. Each of them has been so skilled and patient, taking the time to understand what I’m looking for, talk through the options, and answer questions. I’ve never felt hurried or pressured, and I’ve always left feeling and looking like a million bucks! To me this says so much about the kind of salon The Hair Lab is. Not only are their stylists exceptionally talented and skilled, it’s obvious they’re given the freedom to be truly client-centered, instead of rushing things or pushing products just to make a sale. It’s an approach that takes more time and attention, so it really shows you what their philosophy is. Brian in particular has some of the most excellent “chair-side manner” I’ve ever experienced! Not only did he give me an amazing new cut and color, he made me feel genuinely valued and cared for, which is an increasingly rare skill in and of itself. 10/10...

I have been a client of The Hair Lab for many years. My love for the Lab is vast, as it truly is the best! Emily is phenomenal and her staff is exemplary. After stepping away from the Lab (for a short time), I returned and required an extensive color correction. Upon my return, I was booked with one of the Lab’s newest team members, Tom. At my appointment, I explained (to Tom) my situation and ultimate hair goals. Tom was understanding, accommodating, and confident that he could return my hair to all of its blonde glory- with the caveat that additional sessions would be required to achieve my ultimate hair color goal. To say that I left my appointment happy, would be an understatement. Tom is extremely talented, which is evident by his attention to detail and the finished product.
