Could I visit this shop everyday for the foreseeable future and enjoy each visit? Yes, yes I could. Why? Because this Patisserie is heavenly. We went in this morning for a breakfast treat and were not disappointed; indeed, they completely exceeded our expectations.
It was almost impossible to select a pastry because they all looked amazing. We said we would get four and ended up with five. Did we need five? Absolutely not. Do we regret getting five, not in the slightest. They were all amazing - let's talk about them.
First, the Mille Crepes - buttery crepes layered with Cafe Luit flavored cream topped with a hardened layer of caramelized sugar (not unlike creme brulee). We sampled it in ecstasy relishing the flavor and the sharp crack as our teeth broke the sugar with each bite.
Second, the Tart au Citron. I adore lemon so this was probably my personal favorite. The crust served as a perfect foundation - not floury or heavy. I mention this because, in my opinion, the crust in a tart should be the compliment of the filling. It should showcase and supplement the wonder of the filling, but never distract from it - which it did not. The filling sang. The lemon curd popped from the first bite like vibrant sunshine in my mouth. The chef perfectly mastered the butter ratio, so the curd was rich without being heavy. And the meringue! The meringue was sublime - they tempered it with sugar so the consistency was silken. So GOOD.
Third, Tarte Provencal. One of the only savory options offered at the Patisserie and it was delicious - a perfect counterpoint to all the sweetness we were consuming. It was a symphony of choux pastry wrapped around caramelized onion, bacon, fig jam, and herbed cream cheese. Was it good? Oh yes, very good. One thing, although it didn't seem to bother my sister, I found the butter ratio just a tad high in this pastry - I could feel it heavy on my tongue and it threw the mouth feel off just a hair for me. It was still phenomenal, though, and I would definitely eat it again.
Fourth, Parisian Flan. This was a rich custard infused with passion fruit. Sounds simple, yes? It was, but the magic of French pastry is simple is never boring - this flan had incredible nuance. When you took a bite there was an immediate burst of bright flavor and then, immediately following, another lingering burst of even richer flavor. Layers of passion fruit, satiny egg, and cream all unfolded in your mouth with each bite - it was a pastry made for savoring and we did.
Fifth, the Adelaide. This exquisite pastry was an airy berry mousse that sat on a white chocolate wafer. The flavor was like summer - sweet without being cloying. It was great.
Sigh, I could go again right now.
Other quick notes, the staff was friendly, efficient, patient (as I said, we took a long time to narrow our choices down, but there was no line at that moment), and knowledgeable about the pastries. If you have the chance, forget your diet, do yourself a...
Read moreEDIT: I am updating my rating from two stars to one star based on the email I received the morning after I left my review. I finally heard back from Amanda with probably the second or third apology for the long delay in response and was told that she FINALLY spoke with the chef and was told that Simone “unfortunately will not have time in her schedule for the intricate piping designs you sent over” even though in the very last email, where I had been asked some follow up questions, I had inquired about switching my cake to cupcakes as our plan had changed. So, clearly, we were running out of time because they did have other orders going on for our date. However, I feel this was retaliatory since the email came the morning after I left a poor review. This is the lack of customer service I am dissatisfied with and the entire reason for the review in the first place.
I would not recommend this place for custom cake orders. Mid August I picked up a cake tasting box. I spoke to the woman working that day and had a pleasant experience with her and the cake was great so I decided this was the bakery I wanted to go with for my wedding cake. I submitted an inquiry towards the end of August and received a prompt response to the inquiry. I sent back an email answering all the questions and with several photos a of cakes I liked. I didn’t hear anything back for a week so I sent a follow up email asking about the next steps. I was told that they were running a little behind and I would hear back in the next week or so. I never heard anything so on September 25th, I sent a second follow up email. I was told they were busy with preparations for October, I was asked a few more questions, and told I would be sent a preliminary quote. I never received another email from them. My fiancé called around the 17th of October to inquire yet AGAIN about the next steps of this process. He was told that they didn’t have anything for that date so we weren’t running out of time even though we are getting married in January. We are trying to plan an event. He was also told that I would be contacted by that Friday and I still have not heard anything from the bakery to move further with this cake. I have since started looking elsewhere because I am taking this as a sign this is what I would be dealing with if I do eventually hear back from them.
I understand wedding season is busy since i have worked in the wedding industry, but I am very dissatisfied with this customer service experience…Or...

This is my second time visiting this wonderful bakery. My wife and I visited several months ago and we had been wanting to bring our daughter here. We had the opportunity to do that today and we were not disappointed Even though it was toward the end of the day and most items had been snatched up they were still some very delectable treats. We ordered five different items. We ordered a puff pastry, some baklava, a matcha shake, a raspberry torte, and one other delicious item that I just can't quite remember the name of. Every treat was different but oh so good. The puff pastry had a wonderful creamy center with a caramelized sugar topping. So incredible!!
We knew the owner had been on the food Network and she was there at the time. She's from Louisiana and my family is from Mobile Alabama so there was a Southern connection. My wife spoke to her and she ended up coming over to our table and we visited for quite a while just talking about Southern traditions with food and all kinds of wonderful memories of Southern culture. she ended up asking us if we wanted to try something that was an expression of who she was. She brought out some wonderful grits with a type of jambalaya. It was truly wonderful and such a tremendous treat to meet a fellow southerner.
It's one thing to enjoy the food where you go but it's an entirely other level to see the spirit behind the food. It brings the entire business to life. Such an honor to meet the owner today. Our family are definitely fans of La patisserie. Luckily, we live in wentzville so we're not that far away. We will definitely be back. This is a place I highly recommend. All the food is expertly prepared and I haven't had a bad dish yet and trust me we have sampled about 10 or 12 different items at this point and everything...
