This establishment procured a pair of 4 ctw diamond solitaire earrings that were stolen from my home. She sold them within 24 hrs to a wholesaler, without contacting authorities to confirm they were not reported. A police report had indeed been filed, her records were questioned and she said she had no knowledge and had not seen anything matching that description. The cleaning lady who stole them from my home ended up being more honest, gave details to the Commonwealth Attorney and Ms. Vanessa stood by her position that she had no obligation to report what were, clearly, stolen items. Pawn shops are difficult to shut down due to Virginia state law protection. If you have any interest in keeping a safe and honest community, this business is not worthy of your investment.
Response: I fail to see your loss, as you immediately sold the earrings. Cash in hand. And the officer went to every shop in the area, but you were āout of townā and your employees said the investigation would need to wait until you returned. Did they fund your trip? Make no mistake, I am not frustrated, I am disgusted. A police officer was present when a two stone ring that had also been sold to you was retrieved. The girls you mention were there to retrieve the item, at this officerās request and in no moment without him beside them. No behavior on the part of the girls or the officer was untoward. You specifically told them I should be thankful you were āgiving the ring backā. You sold thousands of dollars worth of jewelry to a wholesaler. You paid the woman who stole everything $600. You are very contradictory in your response, both admitting you had the items but denying any culpability and I absolutely do hold you responsible. You saw an opportunity, took it, lied about it and profited. There is a plethora of documentation, please feel free to follow up. And as for the perpetrator, she entered a program to permit her to move forward in a positive direction and has been thriving, based on my permission. No charges were filed against her. Addiction is something that alters people for a moment. Dishonesty is a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWalking into this shop is delightful in itself, as you enter you are immediately swept up by its charm and elegance. It was just minutes before closing and I was still given a gracious reception. I was a little embarrassed as I explained that I had brought a piece of costume jewelry that needed a repair in the chain, that it wasn't valuable except to me because a beloved friend had given it to me. The young woman that greeted me was reassuring and asked to see the necklace. She put it under her jeweler's light and magnifying glass and was able to repair it as I waited.
If you have ever had a sentimental piece that you thought was ruined, and someone was able to repair it you will have an idea of the joy I felt when she handed the necklace back to me and I slipped it around my neck.
This is what I know, from now on I will be stopping in at this lovely shop for any gifts I need. In this past year, I have made a personal commitment to avoid shopping online and instead I want to support local shop owners. They are the ones that invest in our community and I want to honor that. My reception and service that I experienced at "The Velvet Case" has increased my commitment to stop there first and I will be back often to celebrate birthdays, graduations, weddings,...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis store and the people in it are all amazing. I stopped several months ago and to get some information about selling items to them. Finally got the opportunity to return yesterday and was once gain met with the elegance and charm of both the shop and especially Cassandra. I walked in with a box full of jewelry from several members of my family that have passed and her interest in the both the people and the history of the jewelry was respectful to their memory. Her care and willingness to examine each piece was very sincere and amazing to watch. Her time spent with me seemed endless even with other customers coming in she stayed on our journey. I was willing to let her assist them however her answer to me was "you are my customer too". The other folks were assisted by other employees, but I was quite impressed with her response. At the end of all the time spent I was amazed at the value she placed on what I had brought to the store. Please if you are looking for a respectable place to sell or even buy any type of jewelry or other type of rare item stop into The Velvet Case. Step back in time with a touch of modern flare. If I could rate them more than a 5 star it would definitely be a 10!! Thank you all for a...
