This was the first time I've ever been inside this place. I know of a young man who used to work, or he might still work there.
I would drive past this place quite a bit. But to be honest, I didn't think it was open. It did not look so whenever I drove by.
My friend treated me to breakfast. But the way she mentioned it, and this place. 'Remember that salad I shared with you, this is where I got it from.' I said to myself, you said breakfast..salad?
Hometown grill has that Diner Feel to it. A Diner that does buffet Style. Our orders were to go, and a salad was the first item I placed in my container. Crushed Boiled Eggs and Red Onions...made me want to pile on top of my Spinach. I made a nice Breakfast/Lunch Salad.
Since I was being treated by my friend..she didn't mention if this was by the pound, but I took it as so and held back because...
EVERYTHING I SAW, I WANTED!! I have to find out, if it's by the pound, because if that is true... I will make a stop by here in Friday morning and stock up for breakfast for the weekend. The bacon was cooked perfectly. (I get excited about bacon). The only thing though, I didn't like the what I call 'fame bacon' to put on my salad...but I applied some anyway.
By the register things got very interesting. I WANTED A HORSESHOE!! But I didn't have enough cash on me. I can't remember who that painting above my head is right now, but I did then. The shelves are packed with souvenirs of your visit here.
Hometown Grill and Buffet is located right of highway...exit... I don't know, I don't own a car...I'm a transplant from The Bronx, NY here almost 3 years...and a retired Cook. HGB is a Jewel if you ask me. A place right off the highway that when you walk out their doors stomach full...you're glad that...

I got to the front. was not greeted by a hostess. but a girl wearing a maroon shirt. she had her back to us and acted like we were bothering her. she grabbed the menus took us pass the food bar to the back. the room had a foul Oder. tables had not been pre bussed. the waitress was quick and polite. took our order. we went and looked at the buffet. the gravy looked old. and I was scared to eat the food. now I have worked in restaurants since I was a teenager. I even open a few. so here some advice take it if you want. 1.) people first impression is important. 2.) people eat with there eyes 3.) it only takes one bad review or word of mouth. know I hope you keep an open mind. here are ways to fix your problems you can clean carpets , put up a hostess stand, clean windows and booths ledges. now for the food bar. keep the bar tidy and all the stuff rotated out. not have a girl yelling into a mic. looks tacky. stir and change food pans . sauces and soups should be changed every 30 minutes. the hostess should keep bathrooms tidy. clean pie cabinet out. ...
Read more2nd time eating here. First time my husbands coffe cup had lipstick on the rim. The watress apologized and brought him another cup, which also had lipstick on it. Again an apology and said they were having trouble with the dish washer. Thought this morning we would give it another try since it had been quite awhile since we were there. Well.... there was a dirty plate (dried food on it) at the buffet bar. When we went to our table our coffee was waiting for us, my husbands cup had dried food on the outside of the cup. We ask for a new cup of coffee and the waitress apologized and brought him a fresh cup. When I got about half of my coffee drank there was a visible coffee ring on the inside of my cup. I rubbed it with my napkin and with some effort it did come off but rubbing the inside of the cup showed how dirty the entire cup actually was. When we paid the waitress apologized again and said she would not charge us for the coffee. Thank you, but this will be my last time here. The health department needs to chech this...
