I bought my first television from James Magnotti at the Winchester VA Big Screen Store in November 2013. I purchased an extended warranty service plan that gave me an additional 4 years of coverage on top of the 1 year manufacturer warranty. In December 2015 this 75 inch television started to act up and therefore required service covered under the extended warranty. This was not a minor problem as the technician had to replace the main board ( brains of the tv ) and the power supply. Since that first repair I have had to have the same main board and power supply replaced two more times at roughly 10 month intervals. The most recent event occurred in July of 2017. Clearly this television was a very expensive lemon. I was patient with the process until the technician who came out and replaced the same parts for the third time with no success declared the television unrepairable. At this point I was under the impression that the television would be replaced after having the same problem occur three times within the first four years of ownership. Warrantech, the company that provides the extended warranty program, told me that they would need to have a second company, a company that had been here before to repair the television, come out to confirm the decision of the other company that said the television was unrepairable. This would have been a fourth visit for the same exact problem. I was livid and that is when James Magnotti stepped up to the plate. I knew that the warranty company was trying to get the television through the extended warranty period and send me on my way with a television that did not work properly. James spoke to and wrote emails to all the right people in upper management at The Big Screen Store who in turn spoke with the higher ups at the warranty company. James let everyone know that enough was enough and got the problem taken care of. My television is now being replaced which is a big load off of my mind. James Magnotti truly cares about his customers and will go the extra mile to make sure that they are treated properly and are satisfied with their Big Screen Store experience. I am also impressed with the GM at the Big Screen Store who listened to James regarding my issues and stepped up also by dealing with Warrantech who provides the extended warranty. I would like the thank James Magnotti and The Big Screen Store for finally getting my issue resolved. That very nice TV died two weeks ago after a power hit. (I did have a surge protector, but when you have a 13 year old HDTV, it doesn't always work. Plus, they do need to be replaced every 5 or 6 years to ensure they protect you.)
I did quite a lot of internet research on the latest technology and looked at TVs in Costco, Best Buy, Amazon, and several more online stores
When I went to The Big Screen Store in Kernstown, VA, next to Alamo Drafthouse Cinema, I met James, James Magnotti III.
After I spent a few minutes checking out the displays, James introduced himself, asked me several questions about my desires and needs. He then asked if I wanted more information about his products. He gave a very knowledgeable and concise lecture on the different technologies and advancements in the HDTV & SUHD TVs (4K) over the last few years.
Based on my years of experience and research, everything he said corresponded to my understanding, i.e., no BS. He answered all my questions. After about 45 minutes, considering what I saw in the other showrooms, and looking at the total cost of the SUHD that best met my parameters, I said "let's do it".
Two days later, I had my Samsung KS8000 65" TV delivered by a very competent pair of delivery/installation people. They were right on time, efficient, and knowledgeable. (sorry guys, I forgot to get your names, but I hope management appreciates you).
I am a bit of a Scotsman when it comes to spending. Even though the prices were comparable to most others, I might have been able to get a little bit lower, but the quality of service more than made up for a few dollars.
When you are spending a considerable sum on an entertainment product, there are a lot of variables. Having someone who knows their products and services and is able to communicate knowledge can save you a considerable amount of time and aggravation.

Read moreMy wife and I are in the process of finishing a house in WV. We had a certain amount of our tax refund money set aside to purchase a TV (and accessories). On the recommendation of some of my family who live in Annapolis, we contacted the Big Screen Store and were connected with Shae from the Winchester office.
We corresponded back and forth with Shae over a 6-week period. During this time, I was nothing but impressed with Shae's helpfulness and professionalism. It started from the first phone call. Many salesmen will initially try to "sell what we've got, not what they want." Instead, before giving any advice at all, Shae began by asking me many questions.
"How big is your living room? When do you do most of your TV watching? What type of programming do you watch most?" etc. After a few minutes, when he felt he had a good handle on our specific needs, THEN he said, "Okay, based on what you've told me, HERE'S what I'd recommend..."
Of course, I immediately trusted him because of this. He was patient with us through the process as we sorted out our budget. He went over and above in arranging delivery to my elderly grandparents in Annapolis until we could pick the items up, and helping me facilitate the purchase through relatives (living out of state, they were unable to take my payment over the phone). What could have been a nightmare became a very easy process.
Because of the trust I had in Shae's expertise and the patience he had shown in getting to know me and my specific needs, it was easy for me to purchase a wall mount, blu-ray player, and Bose sound system from him as well when he recommended them.
