I stayed at the comfort inn and was told this was the place to go for dinner...oh my gosh, they must get a kickback because it couldn't be further from the truth, the young lady who I spoke to and took my order had a very hard time understanding English which I understand it is a Mexican restaurant but shouldn't you be able to understand your customers and your customers be able to understand you? The receptionist was very friendly but she got my order completely wrong everything I paid extra for was not on my food or with my meal, and even looking at my receipt after the fact that it was incorrect but I was already in my room and so frustrated and angry after waiting 50 minutes to go get it that I did not want to even go back, the Tex Mex taco meal came with nothing! It was requested with guacamole and onions added.. it wasn't done. The burrito was a nasty disgusting mess.. I can't eat onions because they make me sick.. so I specifically requested no onions in my burrito, even asked the young woman if she would repeat my order . If I'm told they got my order and read it back to me you assume you get what you pay for... there was so many onions it was an inedible.. the meals came with no sides at all..the food was cold and had a weird taste, if it had been hot you might could overlook the aftertaste which was off tasting.. but it was congelded old tasting..the tex Mex with tax cost over $12 bucks the burrito with tax was over $17bucks.. no sides at all"" I also bought a " side of guacamole.. that was charged over 6 dollar's for around 2 teaspoons..also I bought a side of rice.. I was charged over $6 dollar's for barely enough rice to get a few bites..I hate writing bad reviews and I hate discouraging people to not check out a place to eat close to where you're staying but it would be wrong for me to not warn travelers to avoid at all cost.. spent over $50 dollars and I kindly added 20% tip for a takeout meal that Taco Bell does better for a quarter of the cost..I travel this way frequently but I will never come here again..and comfort inn & suites thanks for the false recommendation ( btw I found out the next day that the person at my hotel that referred me there had never eaten at...
Read moreIf you don't dine here during a short visit, longer stay or actual residence in Winchester, VA then I guarantee you will be missing out on some of the best Mexican food ever!!!!! This is no exaggeration. In Winchester for one night my wife and I stayed at a hotel in the same mall as this restaurant. The first impression sets the ambiance for a special meal as the furnishings and decoration is top notch.
The food is even better. My wife ordered the shrimp avocado salad which is topped with a mango dressing. The generous portion of shrimp were grilled to perfection and served amidst a plate full of fresh greens, mango and avocado and chunks.
I went with a their fajita taco salad served in a large edible freshly fried bowl shaped taco which by itself was very tasty and perfectly fried. The generous portion of smalls chicken strips were also perfectly cooked and remained tender. Bigger chunks of onion, green peppers and red peppers were also perfectly grilled leaving some crispness in each bite without being underdone. The seasoning and juiciness of everything ended up in the taco bowl adding to its flavor when everything was consumed.
I'm not a big dessert eater but the photos of their cinnamon swirl cheesecake with a crusty crumb topping infused with more cinnamon and some brown sugar was to die for. I will dream about it!
Our waitress was appropriately attentive and knowledgeable about the menu to answer our questions.
If we didn't live about 750 miles away, we'd dine there regularly and sample the whole menu.
Truly a 5 star or even 6 star...

Our local hangout closed, was looking for a nice bar to have a margarita, some good food, and a friendly environment. Sad to say, none of the above.
The bar is very bright and open, commercial restaurant atmosphere, not cozy at all. No dedicated bartender, the servers just take turns waiting on people regardless of where you sit.
We were seated quickly by the hostess, got some menus, a basket of chips and some salsa right away from someone else…that was the only good part.
Now the not so good parts. The chips are not good, bitter and in much need of salt, the salsa bland.
Our waitress came by soon after we were seated, told us the special meal of the day, we said we only wanted drinks and bar snacks/appetizers. She got our drinks and said “I’ll be back”, leaving us to look at the menus. Needless to say, that was the last we saw of her. We completely finished our drinks, other waiters/waitresses walked by often, never bothering to ask if we needed anything. Eventually we just decided that was enough and went to find someone to pay our drink bill with. Only then did your waitress come up as we were looking for someone. I told her we just wanted our bill due to the fact that she had not come back to take our order. She argued right away and said she had not come back because we had told her we only wanted drinks…which makes sense only if your policy is to never check on your customers ever again and yea, the customer is always wrong. Needless to say, won’t be back.
Will I go back…no. Would I...
