This is an amazing school. Brian is an incredible instructor and a great friend. He truly cares about his students and their families. We have about five or six dads who are taking BJJ with their sons and daughters as well as a few mothers who are also learning BJJ with their kids.
John Stephens has NEVER stepped foot into this school. Just read the comments written by the instuctor/owner from a competing school (a former student of Brian's) along with the other comments from other students to gain some insight into the friendly environment at the Gator Pit.
I've been a student for about 2 years and I've learned more about how to defend myself in these 2 years than in my previous 18 years of martial arts (kung-fu). I discovered something I can enjoy with my son and daughter for life. My son injured his leg playing baseball and was in a cast for 4 weeks. He did PT 3 days a week for 6 weeks afterwards before he was able to return to BJJ. His training with the instructors at BJJ was catered specifically towards his recovery and he made gains even faster once he returned to the Gator Pit. I've watched his athletic ability, strength, and coordination improve even more over his 2 years at GP than all his other sports coaches/lessons combined. My own physical fitness has improved and I'm getting to bond with my son at a much more personal level than ever before. There is nothing more exciting than seeing your children and his/her friends learn a skill that they can carry with them for life.
Sure, some people leave the Gator Pit for personal reasons and preferences. We can only wish them well and hope they continue to enjoy life as much as we do.

Read moreI've been practicing Jiu-jitsu at Gracie Stonewall Jiu-jitsu for almost two years now. This is NOT a "buy" a belt program. The instructor here teaches the art proficiently which people actually learn. Not only do I train here but my I have my young son and soon, my daughter in this class. Bryan, the instructor, takes his time with the kids and has a great deal of patience and love for teaching the children. Several adult volunteers also assist in teaching the little ones and we are privileged to witness the level of professionalism generated by Bryan. Nothing but high regard for Bryan and this school. Bryan goes out of his way to help each and every student with any problems they're having in learning any techniques. If you want to learn self defense or put your kids in something, that teaches them how to properly defend themselves with an art that works and with an instructor that cares then Bryan at Gracie Stonewall Jiu-jitsu is where...
Read moreI've been student at Gracie for 9 yrs now. I can't say enough how this place has changed my life. I am now way more active then I ever was. Its a completely different type of work out. Full body without the weights and running. You get stronger and all the cardio you can stand. Our kids program has grown in the past 8 years. We have over 30 kids ranging from 5 to 15 yrs old and a lot of their moms and dads have recently joined them to train as well. Gracie Stonewall really does offer family time if you want it and if not its certainly a place you can escape reality for a couple of hours and always come out feeling better than before. That's what sold it for me. I can have the worst day and go train and when its all over...it's like nothing ever happened. The instruction is top notch and all with real life practical application. It would definitely be worth a shot if you are looking to improve your life and possibly your whole...
