United States Postal Service — Local services in Sumas

If I could give a zero, I would. The postal carrier hit our farmstand sign last month, last week they hit our dog while turning around in our driveway and he died. The supervisor of this post office did not apologize and told us we had to submit a claim to an office in Federal Way. I happened to check on an amazon order and saw on Amazon that my package was being held. There was zero notice from the post office that we had a package being held and there was no reason why the package could not be delivered. We stopped by to pick up the package and just asked why the package could not be delivered because we did not ask for it to be held. The supervisor was rude and told us that they would not be coming onto our property and that we had to move our mailbox. 1 - Moving the mailbox does not change that packages need to be put on our doorstep. I had my mail forwarded from Florida on 8/4. It arrived at Sumas, WA Post Office as General Delivery on 8/7. I arrived at the post office on 8/13. According to the clerk.... They returned my package to Florida yesterday. OOOPS..... they were supposed to hold it for 15 DAYS... instead, they sent it back on day 5 by "mistake". TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE. We have received our mail like this for over 20 years to post offices across the United States, and NEVER had a problem. This is INCOMPETENCE at its finest. No wonder the USPS is in trouble. My husband is 100% disabled veteran... He receives his medications from the VA thru the mail... His life and health depend on his ability to receive this medication in the mail, which is why we had the mail sent here. This screw-up has put us in a really bad situation... Totally not through any fault of our own... Through sheer...

It’s Christmas Eve, and my wife is bawling her eyes out. In November we ordered a bouncy house for our three special needs kids. We’ve been tracking it, and checking the mailbox waiting for it to arrive. Amazon said it was delivered, but it wasn’t there.

Today we found out from Amazon that the post office refused delivery on December 13th. We literally have no presents for the kids, that was the one big thing for them. Now we have to make a last-minute Walmart run just so we have something to put under the tree.

If they had just told us, we could have made other arrangements. The box wasn’t especially big, certainly not as big as other packages we’ve had delivered there.

We’re really upset. They’ve ruined Christmas...
