This review is based on MY experience. If youâre considering this place I would suggest reading this. This review is based on THIS location and not reflective of the others. Ok prices are listed at the front, but most likely you will pay more than listed so note the + sign next to every price. They do charge for extra length and deep conditioner etc etc. I asked for a wash & set with blow. Simple this is a DOMINICAN HAIR SALON RIGHT?! Well after getting washed the wash lady rolled my hair. When my hair came out of the rollers it looked like it just air dried instead of me sitting under the dryer with rollers. It wasnât bouncy or curled. Just there dry looking. As I waited patiently to get blown I noticed the ladies were using a denman style brush to blow the hair NOT one round brush in site. Then they flat ironed their clients hair. So I got up to go and asked the receptionist if I could just pay for the wash and rollers. She said itâs the same price without a blowout as well and if I wanted them to blow my hair with a round brush they would. If I didnât want the flat iron they wouldnt use it. So I decided ok cool. Itâs my turn to get blown. I asked the stylist if she could blow my roots, which she did with a comb at that very nicely. Then for the blow. When the receptionist informed her I wanted round brush only she started talking in Spanish as if it was a huge task she didnât want to do. It seemed like complaining to me. Her and the other stylist shared a few laughs, but eventually she started round brushing my hair with the dryer. I guess since her preference was the denman brush & flat iron she very lazily blew out my hair. At the end my hair was still frizzy and didnât look like it was blown. At this point I jus wanted to go honestly. The stylist is like mami you need your ends cut. But I know my hair that wasnât the case. She was being lazy and did a half a** job on my hair. I didnât argue about the lack luster service I was provided just paid and left. I didnât appreciate the fact that Iâm paying for a blow out and the stylist is complaining thatâs too much. I did not want to flat iron my hair. When I got home I just blew it out. The left side of the picture is how it looked when I left. The right side is what it looked like when I blew out my hair at home. No lie. Exactly feel my frustration?! I wonât be returning here. Two stars because the receptionist was very professional, the wash lady did a great job not over washing my hair or being too rough, and the ambiance of the salon is nice and itâs very well decorated. I used to live in NY -Highbridge so I know a proper Dominican blow out. I understand prices will be different because obvi this isnât NYC. But for the service I was provided, my end results, in combination with the price this salon is getting away with highway robbery. If you want a traditional Dominican blow out thatâs your moneyâs worth go some place else. If youâre just looking to get your hair flat ironed this might be for...
Read moreUpdate 11/2023: Not trying to battle the owner, but âthereâs levels to this?â Interesting. What part of offering only the comfort of WiFi to guests screams luxurious? No water, coffee, snacks, or lounging on a couch while your perm sits. I just wanted a touch up and the price was highly inflated over the starting price. Bottom line. I added a picture of my hair with the wet and go look, so people can see the audacity of you saying it cost extra because itâs dense.
Original review: I came here before in 2020 when things started opening back up. It was on the pricier side then, about $115 for the same service. I returned because I could make an appointment online, which could minimize the time needed to take off work. I asked for a texturizer touch up, which they call sensitive I guess. There was a lot of discussion between an older and younger stylist as the younger stylist didnât speak English and I wanted to confirm there was no lye in there. Iâm still not sure if it had lye. I heard them say to leave it in for 20 minutes. I was slightly concerned that the younger stylist needed instructions but I went ahead with it. Everything was going great. Touch up went well. The older stylist did my hair nicely without using too much heat which happens at some places and my hair just smells burnt. None of that, it was great. WiFi was pumping so I kept up with work emails (I was on half day leave). Come time to pay, I noticed the manger or owner joined me and the receptionist at the front. There was more discussion right before I got up there but the only word I could make out was âregular.â The bill $205!!! I wonât even get into the back and forth we had. My whole issue was that, IF you were going to charge me for a full relaxer (which is what she did because she claimed to have used 2 inches of perm instead of one), you should have asked me first and I could have made the decision to stay and get my hair done here or go somewhere else and save $100. At most Dominican salons in the DMV, the highest I ever paid was here in 2020, $115. Other places, $90-$100 with the touch up, many places throw in a deep conditioner or trim for free. I typically do all 3. This time, I had no trim. They told me the listed prices are âstarting atâ even though the sign doesnât say that. She said âdepending on length and densityâ and said it was more because of the amount of product used in my hair. Iâve had long hair my whole life. Iâve never in my whole life paid this much to get my hair done. Not even in this same salon 3 years prior. Yea, inflation but DOUBLE?? I wonât return. If youâre going to charge significantly more money than the listed price, you should ask first if the customer is okay with that price. Even Chipotle warns you you have to pay extra for guac. Stylists did a great job and the receptionist is sweet. She was caught in the middle of the feud and handled it professionally. Me, Iâm still smiling cuz my hair is cute tho and itâs holding up with...
Read moreIâve been coming to this salon for salons for a few years to get roller, set and blow outs. This time in January 2025 I booked a sew in appointment and I purchased my bundles From this salon, which were great. When the stylist was braiding down my hair, it was so painful. She didnât add any hair to my cornrows, and she made the cornrows extra big And my tracks were spaced out. The next day I had a bad headache because the stylist took the thread and put it all throughout my cornrows and even a loose pieces of my hair. I called the salon and they let me know they would have to talk to the stylist and get back to me. I knew I could not go another night or day like this so I went to the salon after I got off the phone and when I went there the way I was treated was not good. They started asking me all these questions as if I did something and saying they didnât see anything wrong with the sewin. I let them know the braids were too big and the thread Was too tight, hurting my scalp, giving me a headache. I also asked them was they supposed to be so many spaces in between my tracks? The stylist were speaking together in Spanish And I didnât know all that they were saying. Then when they would talk to me in English They were asking me how did I have my hair before this etc And telling me that they didnât see nothing wrong and they didnât see any redness. I told them I do not want to experience any hair loss, which I did from the sew-in being to tight and from my tracks pulling. I asked them. Why are they asking me all these questions now after Iâm coming back complaining instead of doing a Consultation before I got the sew in. They took a couple tracks out And cut a few pieces of thread. after me speaking up And telling them I was in pain which did alleviate the tension from the thread. It was my fault for not speaking up when the sew in was being installed and I was in pain just from the braid down. Itâs just a lesson learned. Iâm one person that will not speak up when getting a service. I was still not satisfied when I left the salon that day I was in tears and embarrassed because how I was treated. They even told me I thought you said yesterday when you got the sew in installed that you liked your hair. The style was cute, but when I got home and I tried to wrap my hair, I noticed that my leave out wasnât covering certain areas of the tracks and how spacey my tracks were And on top of that being in pain. Fast Forward to today, I finally took out the sew in, and needless to say I experienced some breakage because the way that this sewing was installed, and how the thread was knotted and tangled all through my cornrows. Just an overall sad experience. The best thing that came out of this was the bundles that I purchased. I also sent these pictures to them on Instagram and didnât get...
