Keith & Sons Soul Food Cafe — Restaurant in Summerfield

Today, Saturday, February 1, 2025, was my first and last time visiting this establishment "Keith and Sons" the quality of food I had was horrible! I was in hopes of having some good old fried chicken wings. The person that took my order was nice and and the only happy person behind the counter. When I was shown my plate it looked great. I later got home and saw they were old, dry, greasy, and tasteless, you can't imagine how disappointed I was with this nasty food, the greens didn't have any seasoning on them and I put some of my own on them so I can eat something, the candied yams were full of cinnamon, very watery and all of that dinner wasn't worth my time going there or my money spent. I don't even feel comfortable giving the food to someone on the street and I dare not call them to complain. It's never a problem for me to travel any distance for good food; however for bad food - it's simply pitiful. It's a thumbs DOWN FOR ME! I would NOT EVER, EVER!, EVER!, EVER! RECOMMEND this place to anyone. I used the napkin in the photo to remove much of the grease, needless to say; it all went in the trash, I did try to eat the food. It's important to me to submit this review with hopes that it's read by management and that they receive this commit with taking an look at what me and I'm sure other has listed about the food and then make some immediate changes for the better. I've been coming to this spot for a while. I come about once a month and it's usually for dinner for the fam so I'm spending about $100 each time. Well on this Saturday (3/25/23 @ 1pm), I noticed the 2 people serving food today were not the usual workers. The rest was downhill from there. I had 5 different platters. The female fixed my food and I was quite disappointed. Anyone that comes here knows that you're guaranteed to get enough of each side to last 2-3 meals. Well that wasn't the case today. The side serving sizes were quite small. I ordered the salmon and when she was picking it up, it broke into 3 pieces. And she still put it in my platter...I got oxtails with rice and asked for it in a bowl with lid. She looked totally confused. She then asked the guy and he told me I couldn't get the bowl, that those were just for breakfast. I order this ALL the time and I've never been told I couldn't get a bowl, especially with the amount of money I was spending! I even asked if he could make an exception this time and he wouldn't. He said the owner said the bowls are only for breakfast and I told him this is the first time I've ever been told I couldn't get my oxtail in a bowl and they proceeded to put it in a platter. Needless to say by this time I'm a very unhappy customer and I'm seriously considering coming here any more. It's too bad because the food is DELISH but that means nothing if the customer service is not. I only gave 3 stars because the food IS good. But I think I'll be trying a different soul food spot...

Some coworkers were singing the praised of this restaurant apparently they have no idea what good food should taste like. You can not call and place an order so we arrived shortly after they opened and they did not have the chicken or porkchops to go will the stated breakfast meal prepared. We left came back and some church group came in and order up all the food....what type of foolishness is this. So we left the MLK location and went to the location on Central Avenue since they stated they had prepared food when we called. Breakfast ends at 10:30 a.m. not sure how you have run out of lunch/dinner food by 11:00 a.m. Wanted NC BBQ as listed on the menu and the staff acted as if that item is not on the menu, no coleslaw but we worked around it. Food finally arrived at the office and disappointment......Soul Food is suppose to come the to soul, not the devil as this food indicated. The ribs were not smoked they may have been baked but they had NO flavor and was dry, the cabbage was boiled until there was NO life or flavor and taste like water, the yams were passable but did not come from Big Mamas Kitchen, the potato salad was runny, the black eye peas were lacking. The only item that received a passing grade were the friend pork chops....correction upon further review they were over fried and dry. You can not fry porkchops like chicken..... I am sure unmelanated folks could have done better. I will not return.....All food went into the trash as it was not fit for human or animal...
