Brought my fiancée’s engagement ring here to fix a broken prong 3 weeks before our wedding. The owner told me he would be able to fix it, I trusted him. I was wrong to do so. What he told me was that he would make a small incision in the gold around the ring, set the diamond a little snugger, then mold it shut again, and replace the prongs. He asked me if the ring was white gold, I corrected him and said it was rose gold. After 2 weeks of him working on it, I went to pick it up, paid $318 for his services of what I thought was a fixed ring. When I later inspected it when I got home, I realized what I received back was worse than how I gave it to him. The band was now too big somehow, so the ring literally would slide off my fiancees finger. There is a gap on the side of the middle diamond where you can see through it. He cut a large portion of the side of the ring out (much larger than he described) and soldered it with yellow gold (not rose gold like we talked about). There are dents and scratches in the side of the ring. The center diamond looks like it was cut into to fit 3 larger prongs. 2 of the prongs are rose gold and one is white gold. So now the ring has white, yellow and rose gold in random places throughout it. When I returned the next day to tell him I was unhappy with his services, he asked me to give him the ring back and he would fix it. I refused to let him work on it again and I asked for a refund of the $318 “repairs” of my now ruined ring for my wedding in 2 weeks. He refused to give me a refund. This was the biggest waste of time and money to get a simple prong fix on a diamond ring way too close to my wedding. If you are reading this King Jewelers, you have my receipt and you can still give me a refund and maybe I’ll think about taking these reviews down. I’m extremely unsatisfied with your services and will do everything I can to make sure no one goes to your shop ever again.
Edit: this guy called the Swarthmore police on me and my fiancée for claiming we are trying to extort him for money. Which is illegal by the way. I tried to reason with the owner, all I wanted was my money back for an awful “repair” job. I ended up buying a new engagement ring (not from this store of course), another jeweler I took the ring to said it was “beyond repair” and would not even try to fix. Anyone who needs jewelry repairs in the Swarthmore area, please go anywhere else, this place will only make...
Read moreI couldn't be happier with Yuriy. He is not your typical sales-oriented jewelry salesman, trying to sell you something you don't want. Yuriy is a class act-- an honest, proud, and experienced jeweler who does excellent work for a very fair price. So far, in the month of February 2010 alone, I have seen him for FOUR ring resizings, setting a new diamond in a difficult engagement ring setting, and helping me to design a very nice custom two-tone wedding band to match my fiancee's set.
After two recent trips to Jewelers Row (in Philly) came up emptyhanded, Yuriy came through for me with great work in a timely fashion, and for a moderate price. Again, I couldn't be happier.
He also has some nice stuff in the display cases too, though custom work seems to be his passion. Please pay him a visit if you are in the Media/Swarthmore area, and have any fine jewelry needs at all. I bet he would be happy to entertain a quick repair on the spot for much less than you...
Read moreI met Yuri a few months ago and saw the selection of jewelry he had in the store. He told me that many of the items he made himself. I brought two rings to be repaired. One had 3 broken prongs, the other the main stone was loose. He redesigned the setting and hand made a Beautiful bezel to secure the center stone and diamonds in place. The second ring he tightened the prongs, and polished the ring. His fees were very, very reasonable. He is honest and fair. Fast and...
