I give this place 3 stars for the following reasons as someone who it is a fan of Magic the Gathering and or board games in general this store has a very unique collection and give a variety of options to choose being a collector and or player. As for being a kid I see the store being very sought after being there are not very many options in Tallahassee anyways. But as a collector- seller of the game it is a sometimes unbearable place to go. You'll be lucky to get 45% the card value and even more lucky if you get them on a good day and they're willing to pay cash rather than tried to stuff store credit in your face. It is frustrating that putting the money I do and to getting my collection that I can't get fair value out of it without having to sell online and at is gut-wrenching when I bring in a card or several and my own research from multiple sources give me an average unless a an example of a card being $50 you'll be lucky to get maybe $15 and being someone who takes Pride in the Rarity of my cards it's unnerving to know that they are using pawn shop ethics to get ahead. I'm not asking for what the cards worth I understand I could go online and probably get what it's worth but 2 try to use sells tactics; while trying to find every possible flaw and what you're presenting even if there are none doesn't rub off too kindly in my eyes. I wish that they would be that local store where they take as much pride in their store as I do my collection they price their products based on what they think is fair I think they should accept offers that I believe are fair. Don't get me wrong I know they need to make a profit in the card sits there until they make that profit but if people knew that they were going to get at least somewhat of a return back from what we use our hard-earned money to even getting in the first place I can do it make more sales than they realize. And I believe if they used some kind of honor System as in frequent sellers people who do a lot of business with them they should have some system in which at least you can gain a little bit more I guess percentage of what they'll pay you for your cards that you bring in knowing that you do frequent business with them. And seeing how gamescape no longer even buys cards they should look into opening the doors to find Yu-Gi-Oh and Pokemon as alternative cards they buy I know they might not be as experienced with those games but I do know myself included there are people in this town worth hiring to adjust to that.but over all its a nice clean and very...
Read moreSo I was looking to leave magic. I had a hair over 100 cards that had some value I was looking to sell to be done with it. Punched everything into card kingdom and got an estimate for a bit under 5k. Now I was new to tallahassee and didn't have much experience with this store but I thought I would rather sell to a LGS than card kingdom. So much so I was willing to give a good deal on them much below what I would have expected from CK. They offered 2500. They claimed that CK wouldn't give much more due to the condition. I didn't believe them and sold them. Well I ended up getting 4012 from CK. I get that this is a buisness but come on. I felt like she treated me like some kid who didn't know what I had to try and pull a fast one on me. Atmosphere seemed nice enough but NEVER sell cards here. The term "scam" entered my mind several times while she and her husband tried to convince me that I didn't have much in value. The pic is from the two sell orders to CK. they weren't buying a few of the cards when I sent the first package so it's split into 2 of them. 3251 and 761. Still can't believe she would belittle...
Read morePros: welcoming staff; qaulity retail space; cool magic decor hanging from cieling; good selection board games; clear schedule of upcoming tournaments; right next door to another Game store (2 for 1 yay)
Cons: small space; bit cluttered; no restroom; small space looks like could get crowded on magic nights
There are a few board games on the wishlist and was surprised to find them at tiny magic store nested beside a huge gaming store. Unfortunately when I got to look at the box and game play decided not to get it but almost bought it just because liked the store so much.
Very clean space with clear signage and system for finding things. This little gem is a place I always wished for two decades ago when I lived to play magic. Alas, my current obsession is all things board games.
If you are interested at all in magic the gathering you must pop...
