I NEVER write reviews, so my concern for this stylist is clearly real. Most of her good reviews are from people with the same type of hair (non-ethnic), simple services or are friends.
Ladies, do NOT be fooled by this stylist. She claims to be an Yberra instructor, which you would hope that means sheās qualified and educated about product application on different hair types. Youād also hope itās a stylist who operates with professionalism and accountability. She is none of those things.
I was told black diva is the healthy alternative to using a relaxer, so needless to say I was intrigued and wanted to try it. I VERY explicitly and consistently told her I want to loosen my curl and significantly reduce volume, but that I do not want to 100% straighten my hair. I wanted a very loose curl with significant volume reduction. I showed her a picture of what I wanted and she reassured me it was possible.
After she flat ironed it to activate the product, my hair felt soft and healthy. I kept it in for over 3 days as instructed and washed it out only to realize my hair looked EXACTLY the same. Worst part, she charged me $500 which was shocking itself - Iām positive she overcharged me. I have never spent so much on a hair treatment and come out looking the same. Of course I tried to rectify the situation with the stylist directly because I was hoping to avoid having to write a bad review. But continuous bad service warrants a bad review so here we are.
She starts to lie about all these things she claimed to have told me prior to my appointment - she suddenly tells me I need 2-3 sessions of black diva to loosen my curl and get the results I want. Not only did she definitely never mention that (or else I would have never booked with her), but itās also not factually true. I donāt need to spend $1500 ($500/treatment) to loosen my curl and reduce volume. She then tries to blame me for not listening to her instructions correctly to activate it at home - which is also not factually correct because the activating occurs in the salon when they flat iron it. Of course she doesnāt want to hear that she did anything wrong, so she just stops communicating at her leisure. Reading messages but not responding, at one point Iām pretty sure she blocked me. Just horrible accountability and service.
I spoke to her colleagues, other yberra professionals, and they were shocked to see my before and after. They said my hair should definitely not have been this poofy and curly after a treatment of black diva especially if I was charged $500. They suggested I seek a refund, so I reached out 3 times for a refund, but of course the stylist left my message on read, but never responded - great customer service.
So here are some tips for you:
There is a language barrier as she speaks more Spanish than English. Get in writing confirmation that she understands your needs because she will ghost you if you try to claim she didnāt do something right. Take screenshots of your Whats App messages. Her account is set up for messages to disappear - very convenient for her. Have her quote you an EXACT price before she does your hair. Get second opinions from other stylists because she is likely overcharging you. Be sure to request SHE does your hair. When I booked with her, she had her mom and her best friendās mom doing my hair which to me if you spend large sums of money you better get the stylists work, not her familyās work. Do not let her request any video reviews until youāve seen the final product of your hair. I suggest if you have ethnic hair to simply NOT go with this stylist - your hair and bank account will thank you.
This review was so easily avoidable, but thereās only so much you can do with a stylist who sees no wrong in her ways of operating business. I have never heard of someone paying $500 for a smoothing treatment and coming out looking the same as before and that being ok.

Dont believe in her false promises. She will tell you anything you want to hear in order to keep coming to the salon. She promise a progresive treatment, according to her the more you treated the better it gets.... well my pictures clearly shows that there was never a progress.

I even contacted other professionals from the same brand and they all agreed that my hair shouldn't look this way. They even doubt about what kind of product she was really using on my hair. They were all shocked to know that she is an educator of the Ybera brand.
I try to talked to her about the situation and how unhappy I was with the results, but I dint received any understanding instead she responded all upset about me texting other colleagues.

After the first wash I let my hair dried naturally and they were sooooo dry and brittle which is completely opposite of smoothing treatment.
